I should clarify I haven't had extensive experience with either, but I prefer the PS3 over 360 controller and given the successors seem to be pretty similar I don't expect that to change. In particular I don't like control stick layout being asymmetrical, so even if they managed to have an actually good d-pad on the One there's not much they could do to make up for those sticks.

They actually did with the PS4, which is pretty much the worst thing about it. I applaud them for trying to improve, the triggers shoehorned into the old style were just pathetic, but what emerged from their drawing board is awful. Maybe not N64 level of bad, but it's still shameful.

well actually I take that back, the PS2 was the first good sony pad, PS1 still miles better than whatever the hell they keep sticking on xbox controllers as an afterthought

I was never a fan of the Xbox controllers and that includes the 360's. But I've always been a fan of the Playstation controllers but I still tend to like the The Duelshock 3 best honestly.

For me it depends on the type of game.

I use both extensively (I own a PS4 as well as an Xbox One controller for use with my PC). Given the choice, I'll usually go for the Xbox One controller. I don't have large hands and I find that in some games (mostly fast-paced shooters like Destiny), my thumbs start to feel quite strained after probably an hour of play with the DS4.

For games that don't heavily use, or don't require the analog sticks, though (like RPGs), I don't have any issues. Probably because the original design of the DualShock intended for you to rest your thumbs on the two button pads.

The DS4 is comfy, but the quality control on them isn't the best. I haven't used the X1 controller enough to judge it, but I loved the 360 controller.

PS4 controllers become useless once the battery dies, Xbox One controllers will continue to be usable with the charge cable or your own batteries. That's a huge "fuck off, Sony" from me. I also prefer how the Xbox One controller feels in my hands. That said, it's nowhere near as good a quality one.

I've never played a Xbox One but the controller is very much like the 360 one as far as I can tell thus the PS4 controller gets my vote.

My brother claims he can't play games with a Xbox Controller. It's odd to me as I have no issue using any form of controls save for the WII and other motion controls. *shudders*.

sony controllers have shit quality control.

the DS4 has a battery charge of about 7 hours. that's ridiculous. that's terrible. and it's a shitty internal battery.

the sticks suck, that dome thing is stupid and slippery. they're too close together, so much so that my thumbs frequently hit each other because the thing was made for microscopic asian hands. the bumpers are atrocious. the only neat thing is the touchpad on it.

the x1 controller has a pleasant heft to it, doesn't have a shitty internal battery, has great triggers, offset sticks, microswitch dpad, the triggers vibrate, lasts more than 10 hours on batteries, ect.

Three - four hours actually. A full charge lasts around 7 hours before it's on the last bar. Not great battery life sure but hardly a problem. I do wish Sony would let us turn off the light bar though.

I definitely prefer the Xbox One controller. By a wide margin. I wouldn't say the plays tat ion controller is unusable but I don't care for it. The size, shape and stick placement don't feel right for me.

Unless you've little rat claws, XB1 far superior. So many Sony fanboys. They haven't updated their controller design since PS2.

To be fair, when you come up with something that is pretty much a near-perfect controller design, you probably shouldn't be changing it.

Which is a lesson Nintendo should have learned in the SNES-era - and a mistake they've been repeatedly making ever since the SNES-era.

Also to be fair, pretty much every change Sony HAS made since the PS2 era has been for the worse (mostly thinking the stupid swipe-pad here) - so they'd have been better off changing less than they actually have.

That being said, I'd probably still rate the 360 controller as being my favorite controller ever.

I like the feel of the PS4 controller. It's great. The battery life in it is god damn horrendous though.

The Xbox One controllers are pretty sweet too, but the PS4 controller is just slightly better to me. It fits in my hand better I find.
