I'm playing Majora's Mask right now. Just got through the Snowy area. The First 3 Days was kino and Deku Temple was fun, but I fucking hated the snow shit. There was almost nothing to do and dungeon was just fucking cumbersome.

Please tell me that was the only lowpoint of the game

It was never the best Zelda game.

MM was the first Zelda game I played. Summer between 5th and 6th grade in 2001. Now I've played and beaten all of the major titles (except for BOTW) and a couple of the handheld ones, and MM is still my favorite.

Well, maybe. I beat LoZ earlier this year. Didn't even use a guide. Had to use pen and paper to make my own grid map of the overworld, just like someone would have probably done in the late 80s/early 90s. Awesome experience. Technically, the entire overworld except for 2 grid blocks is explorable from the beginning. But the game makes it hard to access a good portion of the map until later. It's just an awesome world to explore, especially if you put yourself in the mind of someone from 1987 who has never played a modern open world game. I remember accidentally stumbling into the 8th dungeon within my first couple hours of playing. Even modern open world games can't compete with that level of "surprise" and exploration. And even though the dungeons are very monotonous and mundane compared to modern Zelda games, once again putting yourself in the mind of someone from 1987, they're very fun places to navigate and test your knowledge of how to fight the enemies that you'll find within. The whole thing has a more "organic" feel than OoT or any modern Zelda game. Lots of unexpected secrets and surprises were waiting around every corner, rather than feeling like everything was structured to be experienced in a certain order. You had to explore the shit out of the game in order to progress, and hope that the next thing you encountered wasn't an enemy that you weren't too weak to fight. In modern Zelda games, you pretty much know how hard the enemies are going to be in any particular section of the game. Once again, I still haven't played BOTW. I hope when I do, it has that organic LoZ feel.

Sometimes you have good taste PBR. This is one of those times.

this LTTP is extremely overrated to the point of ridiculousness. Its good, but doesnt come close to MM, OoT, WW, or hell, even the Oracles games (which are criminally underrated.)

Its become cool to hate on MM lately for some stupid reason even though MM is hands down the best Zelda

Like nothing happened in Snowhead/Goron Village. You meet ghost dude who has like two real lines of dialogue (pls revive me or at least make me happy) and then you get his mask. And also an obnoxious crying baby

BotW literally got me to play games again after a long slump and i'm still not bored of it. It's the best in the series imo.

nothing happened?

the whole point of the snowhead village arc was the chief of snowhead trying to protect his village and his son, and failing almost immediately because hes too old. You then have the champion of the village try and set things right, die, and then refuse to accept his death because he refuses to accept that he let his village and his people down. Only by accepting the fact that you have the chance to change things, does he finally know peace, and he begs you to make things right and protect his people.

Meanwhile, the elder, who basically has to try something himself considering hes the elder and his champion ended up dying, ends up passing on his legacy and his teachings to you to pass on to his son so he can not grow into a pussy ass goron, but realize why his father and the champion sacrificed themselves for the better of the village, even knowing they were going to immediately die.

Snowhead was extremely sad with Darmani refusing to accept his death at first, and the village chief basically accepting that he had to do something, even though he was way too old to even barely get out of the outskirts.

The village chief didn't die and there's not that much emotional impact for Darmani because his grave is already finished and his ceremony/funeral already happened. There's few actual NPCs and they all either say "oh my god baby shut the fuck up" or "oh darn Darmani died." In general I think you're really overstating the Chief/son thing because all that really happens is that the baby's crying because the chief left for a while. You can find the chief perfectly safe and sound (although still old obviously) and tells you he's stepping down from position of Elder after you let the spring thaw happen.

If the whole thing is supposed to be about the Elder failing then again it's a pretty empty chapter of the game because the Elder has like 3 dialogue boxes in the required part of it and nothing really happens besides him being comically frozen in the ice.

I felt absolutely no impact from "Darmani refusing to die." He has exactly ONE line about "Please magical one, return me to life!" and then immediately afterwards, "or just relieve my suffering whatevs" and you play the Song of Healing and he's fine.

This is true. I actually enjoy the feel of the game more than I enjoy the game. I don't like most of the dungeons. Sidequests are good.

Alttp is probably still favorite, probably because of nostalgia. Followed by botw.
