Is leaving his wife (who he has 2 daughters with), for a 17 year old exchange student they had living with them.

Same age as the older of the two daughters. His wife...is not exactly happy (minor understatement). The parents of the girl strangely seem ok with it (they are German).

Supposedly they are in love, but have not done anything physical yet (or at least what he says).

The mother is the one who has always had exchange students and runs the program in the area (Finding other homes for them besides their own). The daughters are tramatized as she does to school with them (Even after being moved out of their home by the mother).

I am FB friends with the mother, don't really know the son that well (have met him a few times).

I know some people don't think 17 year olds are still kids, but even if that is true, if your in a parental role (freaking giving them a home as an exchange student) don't you think it is wrong to get romantically involved?

If in some weird universe I found myself being attracted to someone almost young enough to be my grand-daughter (he is about 50), I would not need my wife to have her moved out of the house!!

Maybe i'm just over sensitive? What do you all think. Is the son in this situation in the wrong? How are the parents ok with having their daughter go to live with a family as an exchange student and falling in love with the father?

This just seems totally crazy to me.

Lol, yeah it is confusing.

I have a friend who is 70, his wife passed away a few years ago, and he then married a girl he met at a massage parlor (was giving happy endings, including to him), and eventually married her.

Most where like "he cray cray" but I was more supportive, since he is happy, and what the heck else is going to do with the rest of his life. Things seems to be going fine for him.

Anyway, he has a son, and that son is currently splitting from his wife (his choice) because he fell in love with a 17 year old exchange student they had living with them.

He also has 2 daughters (15 and 17 I believe), who go to school with the exchange student (or did as school is out now).

Anyway sorry it was confusing.

Nah, decided that was not a good idea (partly do to good advice from here!), and it was a good thing as well. She is moving out next month. She ended up being quite messy and not very responsible. Could have been bad if I was dating her.

No it's pretty fucked up that he's married and going to romance someone that is in the same high school grade as one of his daughters. Truly fucked up

Yeah, I thought that as well, but...his wife (who is my friend, seemed more upset at the girl. I think sometimes you can't see things clearly if your too close.
