It's got a fair amount of problems which makes it just a slight notch over mediocre, which might look bad to some due to the high expectations Mario instills but it's not objectively so. I can't really think of one I'd categorize as "bad." Lost Levels is definitely the weakest one but it's still playable at its core.

Mario is kind of Nintendo's frontrunner. most of his games has probably been multimillion sellers just from brand recognition alone. though the easy potshots is probably Mario is Missing, Super Mario Bros 2 (despite the slight genre shift, it did have vertical movement, varied stats and throwable enemies), Hotel Mario or one of the edutainment spinoffs. it probably helps that in the public eye, the majority of people are probably just going to be all "Mario is that game where you play as a italian man and collect coins", not being aware that the series has spinoffs.
Among fans, there's probably some dislike over Galaxy 2 being kind of an excuse plot, as well as the majority of the New Super Mario Bros series, if only because originally it was a return to Mario's 2D platforming roots (barring remakes), but by the time it got to the 3rd (or even 2nd) it kinda became generic. if you're counting spinoffs, you're probably going to expect a lot of bile towards the later Paper Mario games, where at least Super Paper Mario had the basic 2D platforming down and had great writing. by the time it got to Sticker Star, the series has been kind of tainted. Compare that to Kirby, where his games are either average (tends to be due to the lack of difficulty curve), or self-fanservice for fans of the series (Triple Deluxe, Robobot). their fans are probably just going to bring up the random villains/aesthetic/gameplay changes within individual games like both Kirby Paintbrush games, Epic Yarn and Mass Attack. Kirby is basically the Gintama of Nintendo games, it's slightly larger than Pikmin, gets more games than F-Zero (used to be Metroid, though they're getting 2 games), yet isn't even one of Nintendo's main 5 game series. (tends to be Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Fire Emblem...and maybe Animal Crossing?
