MrSmartGuy: For this, I have to think it's like an android with a gun who has a shell on his back and makes quippy one-liners as he decimates his enemies. I've always felt something like this is exactly what Pokemon has needed for a long time.

Paratroopa1: the best part about this guy is that they finally made a fire dragon and everyone was expecting charizard but better but then it was this asshole and everyone's like oh that's disappointing and I'm all like haha look at his shell OH MAN LOOK AT HIS SNOOT, HE HAS A SNOOT. people just don't appreciate the nice things in life, I don't get it, dude, look at turtonator's snoot

ctes: Turtonator looks cool enough and has a cool typing with two types that even out half of each others, without getting any double weaknesses. It's pretty bad though. It's HP is ass, special defense below average too. For a Pokemon that has so little speed and offensive presence, it kinda sucks that only its defense is worth anything.

StifledSilence: Would Sarah Conner have taken it seriously if she was warned about the Turtonator coming to kill her?

Inviso: I hate turtle Pokemon, but for whatever reason this board does, so I fully expect Turtonator to rank highly. It's just blocky and fugly looking to me, even if it's got a good typing and is pretty useful as a tank.

Cybat: Why isn't this an evolution of Torkoal? And, follow-up question, what the hell is this thing? Its shell is pretty cool but its head and helmet just look so dorky.

OrangeCrush: Mega Sceptile Part 2: The re-back-ening.

Luster Soldier: A typing that was previously exclusive to a Legendary Pokemon has now found its way to a non-Legendary for the first time. I find it a bit strange how a turtle based Pokemon could be considered Dragon type. Anyways, I'm not a fan of this Pokemon design.

Brayze_II: gentlemen, we’ve hit peak autism

ctes: Pikipek is super bland and boring. I got a shiny one almost right away when I first played, that's the only thing it stands out with for me and it doesn't count. Thing is, I'm tired of them having to make a new bird every generation, they really don't have to. Just slap one of the others there if you want and early bird, Fletching is already in the dex. If they weren't so stubborn, they could've not made Unfezant because they had no good idea that generation, made Talonflame because they had a cool idea and then not made this. Unfezant had the excuse they wouldn't bring old Pokemon to the Unova dex at first. This line has a signature move and that's all, and it's not Pikipek's. At least it's somewhat cute.

hotdogturtle: I like it because it's a good sweeper in the Battle Tree. I didn't rank it higher because I haven't actually used it myself, just seen people using it.

Luster Soldier: 181 ATTACK? AND WITH SWORDS DANCE? I remember the overreactions from a lot of people when Kartana's stats and movepool were revealed from a pre-release full game leak. While this looks impressive, it ends up not being as strong as it seems. Kartana is limited by the fact Grass/Steel is a rather poor STAB combo that's resisted by a lot of Pokemon. It also doesn't have access to any moves (ignoring Z-Moves) stronger than 90 power, which means even coverage moves don't really do as much damage as you might expect with that base 181 attack. The use of Swords Dance to make up for these deficiencies sounds like an appealing option, but setting up a Swords Dance is tough because of the poor Special Defense. It's also extremely easy to KO with Fire moves.

Cybat: I can't really come to terms with the Ultra Beasts, they are just too weird to the point where I have most of them clumped up in the middle of my rankings here. This one might be the weirdest; a one foot tall paper samurai?

ctes: Kartana's design is kinda lame really. It's cool, but for an Ultra Beast / legendary, it kinda sucks. Compared to some of the others, its design is just not as great. I do like its stat distribution though, it gets an average placement.
Inviso: Cool design and relatively unique typing, but still, too many legendaries. Too damn many.

Paratroopa1: I wasn't really feeling this dude at first but then he folded up like paper when he died and I was like SOLD

Ermine: All of the Ultra Beasts are terrible and a complete waste of space, except for MAYBE Necrozma.

Also on another note, I think Kartana is in a pretty neat place in random battles. It's one of those pokemon that's ridiculously strong, but it has just enough problems that it doesn't cross over into the oppressive regime. If I remember it has like 300+ attack by default, and also frequently has either Life Orb+Swords Dance or Choice Band, so it's going to be sweeping teams if it gets set up properly. But it's held back by the fact that 207 speed is just low enough that a decent chunk of the meta outspeeds it, and it also has pretty poor defenses so those pokemon can generally KO it. (Also it can't switch into stuff really unless it's a not that strong physical attack or something it resists)

"Prowess" is probably the wrong way to say it anyways. There's a decent chance there's a correlation there, but I do have pokemon that are relatively weak in RandBats near the top because I like their role anyways, and the reverse is also true. In fact, my #97 is ranked that lowly specifically because it is completely one-note and yet still oppressively strong in the format. The design isn't doing it any favors either, but the gameplay stuff is the main thing.

Ermine: I still really love Popplio... but jesus christ his line turned into complete shit. He'd be in the top 3 for sure if his line wasn't completely ruined. It's hard not to think of his evos when I see him and it's really just kind of depressing =/

Luster Soldier: During the initial reveal of this Pokemon, I was not originally planning to go with Popplio. My interest in picking Popplio got even better with the reveal that it can learn Disarming Voice, hinting at the Water/Fairy final evolution typing. In the past, I had been sold on Piplup because of Water/Steel for Empoleon (an excellent typing itself), and Water/Fairy is almost as good as Water/Steel. The leaked design for the final evolution looked very interesting and would have definitely locked in my decision to choose Popplio if the leaks turned out to be real. The leaks ended up being real, so I went with Popplio. The animation that Popplio makes when you confirm your decision to choose it is very derpy and cute as well. This animation is so derpy -

Paratroopa1: this little guy really grew on me in a big way somehow. not sure what happened. one minute it was like meh weird clown seal I'll pass thanks and then the next moment it was like HEE HEE CUTE SEAL YAY look I dunno what the fuck happened popplio just grows on you, okay?

Inviso: Cute first stage, just not as cute as Litten/Rowlet.

StifledSilence: When I first saw a picture of this one, I wasn't a fan. But it's grown on me. Kinda cute.

Cybat: It's kinda funny how for two generations in a row the water starter was the goofiest-looking one.

PrinceKaro: Looks too derpy and lacks the refined elegance of its evolutions.

ctes: Popplio is a pretty bad basic form for a starter. I can't truly put a finger on it, but it's my least favorite water starter ever and the only one I don't like. I don't really dislike it either, it's just not very great.

Luster Soldier: Another cute event legendary Pokemon, but I would not classify it as "super cute" comparible to Pokemon like Celebi and Jirachi. Marshadow also has a unique Fighting/Ghost typing, not previously seen on other Pokemon until now. It's a bit of a shame to see a unique typing like this placed on an event legendary, just like with the Fire/Water typing of Volcanion. The Fighting/Ghost typing is quite strong as it currently has perfect neutral coverage on every single Pokemon. That could change if Normal/Ghost is ever used on a future Pokemon.

Cybat: Cute I guess? It really only got this high because Ghost/Fighting finally woooo

ctes: I do like Marshadow's design and its tpying is cool, but we know basically nothing about it. I give it a somewhat average ranking because of that, a little above because things are looking great so far, but I'm not sure we should include it just yet.

Inviso: Event legendary we haven't even gotten to use yet. For having a unique typing, I rank it this high…but no further.

Raka_Putra: Stumpy legendary Pokemon. I hate Pokemon not readily available in game.

StifledSilence: I first saw that name and assumed it was a new character from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Brayze_II: this is one of the top results for marshadow sexy

Paratroopa1: oh hey I know why they didn't release this bastard. it's because he's dumb and shit. it's hard to tell what he even looks like without any good official art as far as I know but all the renderings I've seen of him make him look almost transcendantly lame
