Cringy as fuck.
Youtube pours millions into this, and still manages to make it look low-budget. Good luck competing with Netflix and HBO with this crap. This will only appeal to preteens who just care about the fact that Youtubers are in it.

It's every bit as bad as the trailer suggests. I watched the first episode -- of season 1 -- which was so ungodly awful. YT needs to stop trying to make its own stars by taking from the community and actually invest in quality content. The thing that the company forgets is that the big selling point of YT is that it's free so creating shows and expecting people to pay for it using talent that viewers associate with the free model is going to fail.

I felt bad for the producer. That guy made his game's debut look like a joke, then he proceeds to call him by the wrong name. The producer looked horrified and so uncomfortable.

Agreed. I liked them when I was a young teenager, but I quickly outgrew it. That vast majority of their viewers are teenagers, which is why this is a stupid strategy if Youtube wants people to sign up for Youtube Red. Teenagers arent the ones paying for these services.

The thing is, it's like making a movie out of a video game. It just doesn't translate across mediums. The real appeal of Youtube is that it was meant to give creators total freedom. To grow as an artist and experiment with new ideas. These Youtube Red "shows" just ooze the corporate feel. I really doubt the stars are there for anything more than the influence on their fanbase.
