at least the rate of decline is decreasing.....

Looks like it was around the time the PS3 and Wii launched, so the launch of such revolutionary consoles (along with the Xbox 360) all helped in the site's popularity. Of course, that was before social media really took off; there aren't even any notable spikes for November or December 2013 (when the PS4 and XBONE launched).

If this is a legit question, there's really nothing. I'd wager the major issue is that the toxicity of the messsge boards drives most away and the only fixing that is a MAJOR overhaul of the ToU that I doubt Allen would be willing to do.

i feel like it's more about the site itself being useless, IGN and Gamespot do wayyy better FAQS than random site users also just the popularity of walkthroughs on youtube

IGN? I can't speak for gamespot but I haven't had good luck with IGN at all.

The guides here for the most part have gotten me what I needed. The only flaw is when I need something like pictures to help locate something.

Exactly. GameFAQs is still top results when you google specific game questions. That's more important than people googling the site name rather than typing the site name into the address bar.

These Google Search stats really mean nothing at all in terms of hits the site is getting.

Search results are proportionate to the time and location of a query:

The resulting numbers are then scaled on a range of 0 to 100 based on a topic%u2019s proportion to all searches on all topics.

Different regions that show the same number of searches for a term will not always have the same total search volumes.

I haven't used Gamefaqs as anything other than a message board site for like 10 years.

I found it by googling how to do something in some game. People don't do that anymore so finding this website isn't common, and when you do find it you see how old school the layout is (which I personally like) and move on to IGN or Gamespot.
