Gotta download Stormblood, but fuck all if I'm gonna download it on a 1.5 mbps speed. Tried leaving it on all night last night, and it ended up disconnected after 300 MB.

What places do you guys think would have reasonable download speeds for me to download this game?

Went ot the public library, it was closed for some reason.

Came to starbucks, getting 4.5 MB/s. 30x faster than my home internet.

I don't think I've tried Starbucks wifi before. I'll have to check it out sometime; there's one like five minutes from my house.

But the best public wifi I've personally seen (excluding the library) was around 1MB/s, so apparently I'll have a low threshold to clear.

Also worth noting that a lot of McDonald's and KFC's have free wifi, but YMMV on the quality. I would assume public libraries would be the best, though.

In general, malls also often have wifi but it's kinda shitty. Plus some department stores like Kohls have free wifi.

Some of the Starbucks in my area (maybe all of them?) turn their wifi off while they're closed. You just get a message about coming back during business hours. Libraries seem to leave them on, though.

You don't have to. They usually have outdoor seating plus the wifi network can extend as far as your car.

was downloading a game and had to plug in my laptop, otherwise it would have died.

Interesting, I thought Starbucks locations did leave their wi-fi on after closing. I guess not. I know when I've been sitting outside libraries after closing, I've never had problems logging into their wi-fi.

as someone who just spent a week staying in various hotel rooms, this has absolutely not been my experience
