Fuck her. I'm so glad she got convicted.

The dude was actually thinking about not killing himself but she continually pressured him to do it.

As a person who used to have suicidal thoughts, I can't imagine what it would be like if someone that I cared about had encouraged me to kill myself.

Like how fucked is that? Dude probably loved his girlfriend. Reached out to her, clearly a cry for help. Instead she's like don't be a fucking pussy and do it.

It's very easy to be upset, actually. A suicidal person commits suicide, and someone else gets put in prison for it?

That's fucked-up.

Have you read the texts? I'm not gonna post a link to them but it's crystal clear she pushed him to do it.

You ever heard of context?

That's the context I'm providing. I don't intend this to be compared to what she had done. It's just a little food for thought for people to think about what they say online. I don't judge the people who do these things or the people on the receiving end. I just want people to think about what they say online to a stranger.

For anyone saying "he would have done it anyway", hasn't read the texts. He was seriously doubting himself, and she pushed him, here's some examples (spoiler tags for anyone who doesn't want to read them):

Roy: "Another day wouldn't hurt"
Carter: "You can't keep pushing it off, tho, that's all you keep doing"

Carter: "You're gonna have to prove me wrong because I just don't think you really want this. You just keeps pushing it off to another night and say you'll do it but you never do"

Carter: "SEE THAT'S WHAT I MEAN. YOU KEEP PUSHING IT OFF! You just said you were gonna do it tonight and now you're saying eventually. . . ."

Carter: "But I bet you're gonna be like 'oh, it didn't work because I didn't tape the tube right or something like that' . . . I bet you're gonna say an excuse like that"

Carter: "Do you have the generator?"
Roy: "not yet lol"
Carter: "WELL WHEN ARE YOU GETTING IT"

Carter: "So I guess you aren't gonna do it then, all that for nothing"
Carter: "I'm just confused like you were so ready and determined"
Roy: "I am gonna eventually"
Roy: "I really don't know what I'm waiting for. . but I have everything lined up"
Carter: "No, you're not, Conrad. Last night was it. You keep pushing it off and you say you'll do it but u never do. Its always gonna be that way if u don't take action"
Carter: "Do u wanna do it now?"
Roy: "Is it too late?"
Roy: "Idkk it's already light outside"
Roy: I'm gonna go back to sleep, love you I'll text you tomorrow"
Carter: "No? Its probably the best time now because everyone's sleeping. Just go somewhere in your truck. And no one's really out right now because it's an awkward time"
Carter: "If u don't do it now you're never gonna do it"
Carter: "And u can say you'll do it tomorrow but you probably won't"

And also the fact that during the suicide, they were on the phone together and he bailed from the car because he was scared. She then talked him into getting back into the car. She was clearly at fault for this.

What the fuck is fender really defending her.

She may not be 20 years prison worthy but she deserves involuntary institutionalization as she's malicious and a danger to others.

The whole situation is a grey area but reading those texts in my opinion makes her guilty. She could have reported it or she could have cut ties with him and absolved herself of all blame.

She didn't, instead she bullied and demeaned him and pushed him as hard as she could to take his own life. People go to jail for far less.

And that's wrong.

Agreed. People don't die in those situations.

I'm all for rehabilitation. That's why I said she should be committed. She already has a history of mental illness and now an incident where she had malicious intent that resulted in the death of another person.

She needs to be taken out of the public.

Just gonna leave this here:
http://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-charges/involuntary-manslaughter-overview.html
Three elements must be satisfied in order for someone to be found guilty of involuntary manslaughter:

1. Someone was killed as a result of the defendant's actions.
2. The act either was inherently dangerous to others or done with reckless disregard for human life.
3. The defendant knew or should have known his or her conduct was a threat to the lives of others.

Seems pretty clear that those were met.

She's only like 1% responsible for his death at most, so hopefully she is only sentenced to 1% of how many years they would normally sentence a 20 year old woman with no prior criminal record for involuntary manslaughter.

I actually agree with this. It's a terrible thing to do and she's a bitch for it, but you can't make someone go to prison Bc of things they say.

How is it involuntary? She clearly wanted him to die, at least in the moment.

Regardless, 20 years is ample punishment.

It's amazing you think actions means "physics movement".

That's like saying that a man that manipulated a drunk chick into having sex with him is only 1% responsible for her rape because you have completely disregarded the fact that she was in no way in a proper state of mind to be in full control of her actions.

Same thing here. A person in a suicidal state of mind is not in full control of their actions leading up to their suicide. The fact that even though he was considering backing out of committing suicide while texting his girlfriend who was instead pressuring him to follow through makes her fully culpable even though he did the act himself.

Being intoxicated to the point of not being able to move is a physical impairment as much as it is a mental impairment. Do not compare that to this boy's situation where it can only be argued that there was a mental impairment. Obviously he wasn't physically impaired to the point where he couldn't follow through with committing suicide...

I never said passed-out drunk; that's something you made up to try to deflect my point.

Try again.

He changed his mind and got out of his truck and she talked him into getting back in and finishing it. She researched the method and told him it would be easy and painless. She knew he was thinking about it for months and didn't try to get him help. And no, people who are that suicidal do not think rationally, especially when they're about to do it

I've followed this case rather closely for years. I've seen all the texts. I've heard all the arguments in every direction. I'm well informed on this case. No matter what she did, the boy was in a much higher position of control over his life than she was. Therefore, his actions are 100% on him.

I assume conman should be absolved from the law as well then right? And bullies, I mean it's just words, it's the victims fault for listening and not controlling their life/environment better.

Scammers and Hackers too of course, I mean they put up the machine but the victim swiped their card, "they shouldn't have used that gas station"!

Right? I mean 100% their control.
