After being blind for two weeks, I'm finally feeling better. My vision is still blurry, but the pain is finally gone. I've been absent because of this. Have you guys ever had pink eye coupled with a staph infection? It's extremely painful. I felt like dying. But, I'm finally almost healed and am ready to go back to work. How have you guys been doing since I've been gone?

Oh god.

I had a similar thing last year, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I had viral pink eye, and then got two corneal abrasions. I couldn't leave my home because everything was too bright. I couldn't drive, I couldn't even have the blinds open. My light sensitivity was ridiculous. I couldn't get on the computer - Even WITH the blinds closed, I still had issues. I had to put up BLACK curtains.

I missed a lot of work - blew through all my sick days and most vacation days. Most days I couldn't even open my eyes - they were twitchy. It felt like something was stuck in my eye but there wasn't - which is probably what lead to the abrasions.

When I went to the eye doctor they gave me this numbing agent and it was the most glorious thing ever. The pain numbed. My sensitivity was gone. That only lasted like an hour, though. -But this guy patched up my eyes - then made me wear protective contacts so the abrasions could heal properly.

The healing took a long time. It was a gradual thing - where finally I was able to use a computer if I set everything to black. I also set it up where the font was the largest. I had to wear sunglasses all the time - even inside.

Over the next few weeks they finally healed, but it was the worst summer of my life.

Well, my vision wasn't gone per se, but my eyes were so swollen and sensitive to light that I couldn't open them or see properly. Yes, both eyes.

Pretty much the same here. The pain kept me up at night, I couldn't sleep because my eyes were so swollen they wouldn't shut right, I couldn't take any light and wore sunglasses in the house, couldn't drive, couldn't do anything. I self medicated with various things, but it was just a waiting game until it cleared up. Even though I'm not in pain anymore, my vision is blurry and I'm still sensitive to light. It's been a living hell.

Oh man I know the pain. Well maybe not that bad. One of my eyes had a detached retina, and the other a torn retina and I had to have surgery, so for quite some time I had to rest them. No looking at screens (such as tv, computers, video games), or anything that could cause unwanted stress, so even reading was out of the picture. I was bored as fuck.

But at least it wasn't painful IIRC. Glad you're ok :3

That sounds just as bad. Eyes are so essential. Anytime they get messed up, your whole life gets messed up.

Don't get me wrong, I freaked out plenty. I was depressed during the worst of it when I was binding wet cloths to my face with wraps.

Who did you get to obtain food, meds etc.

I stayed with my mom this whole time.
