DISCLAIMER: I love Disney. I go to Disney World every few years if I can and love all the films. When I say "fanatics," I mean it.
The people who spend all their money flying to Disney every few months. The people who post graduation pictures in mouse ears. The people who constantly update their status with Mickey or various princess quotes. The people who own a limitless supply of Disney stickers, accessories, mugs, etc. I'm all for embracing your inner child, but maybe it's just because I ran in theatre-kid circles growing up, but I swear there's some alarming arrested development going on when the fandom gets THAT intense. It's like a more socially acceptable brony thing (albeit not even half as weird to be fair). Like, you're 25. Do you have anything else going on? Anyone else see this shit? --- -Shred ... Fanatics of any kind are usually kind of offputting. I wouldn't call it bad; I'm happy they are doing what they love and have the means to support it, but sometimes it feels like the person is less of a person and more of a caricature. Who am I to judge though? Life's rough and maybe this is their "happy hour," their happy place, their distraction so to speak.

This guy I know is 25, him and his wife live with his mom. They make like a combined 40k a year, and with every extra penny, fly to disney world. He goes to Disney like 4 or 5 times a year. He bought a season pass to all the parks which was like 2 grand or something, to use it 3 or 4 times. I couldn't help but laugh at that. Whatever makes you happy right. I'll definitely be vacationing around the world and not just going to disney every chance i can but that's just me.

I've never met a Disney fanatic. The closest would be moms who love it watch all the movies with their kids.

I had a coworker that was one years back. My mother has one in her office too. The one I knew was older than me at the time so like 32 then. Her, the husband and the kid. Disneyland once a month. The one my mother knows is a grandmother and the whole family goes to the Florida one twice a year. The obsession with it by an adult is creepy to me.

Most "weird obsessions" have very little distinction when you get down to it, only which ones are socially acceptable & to what degree. Let's be honest, is it really that much worse to buy anime figures & do cosplay, versus lining your house with the merch of your favorite team, wearing your team's jersey, & breaking into a riot if said team loses? Nerd obsessions rarely get nearly as violent as sports fanatics, yet we ultimately accept sports riots, while shaming grown men who even daring to like My Little Pony in any function.
