I don't see why people thought it wasn't as good as the first. I loved all the character development, especially everything with Yondu and Rocket. Gamora and Nebula had some good scenes too.

Speaking of Yondu...

:*(

"He may have been your father, but he wasn't your daddy"

The entire ending sequence from the eulogy onwards was tear-jerking as fuck.

And when Ego revealed he gave Peter's mom cancer I had an instant thought of "BLOW THAT MOTHER FUCKER (haha) AWAY" and felt so good seeing Peter immediately shoot the fuck out of him.

Also, is the Zune gonna be cool again now?

Yeah, honestly wasn't expecting that kind of emotional development with Yondu of all people. It was really well done though, with him and Rocket when they are prisoners during the mutiny. I wish Yondu didn't die at the end because after all that character growth, it would've been fucking awesome to keep him in Volume 3 but with the way it was handled, it works for the story too.

The only big problem I had with the movie was how Drax was treated. It felt like he was around mostly for comedic relief, moreso than in the first movie. Hopefully in the next one he will have a more serious and central role. Overall really good movie imo

Not that Yondu was a great father either. He was still a criminal and abuser. But better than understudy to a genocidal superbeing I guess.

Yeah, I didn't like that too much either. I didn't catch many instances of him taking things completely literally which was the main bit of humor for him in the first one.

It was good but definitely not as good as the first one. The sequel and like twice as many jokes and it felt like half of them fell flat. Drax's personality was a lot different for some reason and it felt like he was just screaming and smiling like a lunatic non stop. The plot of the movie was info see compared to the first one. The bad guy didn't even get started with carrying out his evil plan until the last half an hour of the movie. pwter went from hating ego to loving him 5 minutes later and it felt like that change happened too quickly. It felt like I was being assaulted with colors nonstop throughout the movie. I mean, it looked nice at first but it eventually felt like they went a little overboard. And the soundtrack wasn't as good or memorable as the one in the first movie

Well the first movie was just kind of this failing upward style movie where the protagonists screw up so hard they end up winning like back to the future while the second movie is a full on comedy. Thor 3 looks like it's taking the same angle.

Yeah I'll agree to that as well. I thought it'd be great since they started out with Mr. Blue Sky which is one of my all time favorite songs, but everything after that was just kinda meh. Not bad, but not perfect like the first movie.

At least now he's got a massive 300 song library for the third movie.

I also found it very touching that the Walkman and cassettes were the only thing he had to remember his mother by, given to him when she died...and when they got destroyed, he's given a Zune by his "father" when he dies. And then there's that super adorable scene of Baby Groot jumping on his lap and listening to the song with him after the two of them had almost zero interaction throughout the movie. Like Groot was the fatherless child Peter used to be.

Seriously, the entire ending of this movie was fucking beautiful.

My little bro (16) and my friend we're both shocked that the Zune was a real thing. The reactions were priceless but I knew a bit about it stove I went to shop for an MP3 player before. It was either the latest Walkman at the time or the Zune HAD. I went with the Walkman since I favored Sony's branding, but I kinda wished I didn't get an MP3 player altogether because it blasted my right ear to hearing loss. :(

Anyway, Yondu... D':

Hehe, baby Groot just getting passed around in all those ship scenes. And then we get teen Groot at the end. Loved those credit scenes.

The way he gives Peter such an attitude with just saying "I am Groot" is incredible

I liked it way more than the original. Really enjoyed Nebula's character development, reminded me of Vegeta. Reluctant/begrudging anti-hero is one of my favorite tropes.

I had strongly mixed feelings. On one hand, the story was a bit cliched and the emotional stuff was laid on a little thick. On the other hand, though, the show was really funny and the paperback sci-fi novel plotline was fabulous. All in all, great flick.
