I was 3/4 the way through it, then I beat New Vegas and then my 360 died.

As someone who bought 3 when it first came out on pc, but didn't play new Vegas till two years ago....

Not playing the end of Fallout 3 saved you from potentially realizing how terrible the plot of Fallout 3 actually was. Especially if you played it before the Broken Steel patch (which, honestly, was still a kind of bullshit passive-aggressive cop-out on the part of the developers anyway).
