Why is Base Set Gyarados weak to Grass when Magikarp is weak to Lightning. Even worse Gyarados is resistant to Grass but has a double weakness to Electric! What's that about Wizards of the Coast?

Gyarados actually takes neutral damage from Grass-type attacks, TC. But yeah...
Mikablu posted... Nothing about the Pokémon TCG ever really made sense. In the early days, there were definitely some mistakes and inconsistencies. Once the card game matured along with the video game, they started being more consistent. Gyarados cards started having the correct Electric weakness beginning in the Gold/Silver era. http://serebii.net/card/dex/130.shtml The same thing happened with Aerodactyl. Just like Gyarados, in the early days its cards had a Grass weakness (due to being a Rock type) which in the video games its Flying second type would cancel it out. But most of its later cards either had a Water or Electric weakness. http://serebii.net/card/dex/142.shtml --- "Someday I too will fly... and find you again!" http://i.imgur.com/OjGVywG.jpg ...
