Omg dude I hate progressive politics so much

People liked Bernie because he was authentic, not because socialism

People disliked Clinton for being inauthentic, not for being centrist; her tracking to the left obviously didn't help her at all.

That's all, sorry ce just venting

Which part haven't you heard? If you're vaguely aware of politics, you'll notice a split between the progressive and centrist wings recently. Many people believe that the inability of democrats to clearly articulate a progressive platform is what lost them the senate and presidency in 2016. This is still playing out with different races signaling different things; wins at local levels in NY and NH recently have emboldened the Bernie wing while more important congressional and executive races as in Montana elude them

What does that have to do with whatever you're taking about?

Yup, I don't agree with many of his policies but would have happily voted for him because he didn't come across as a corporate stooge

Define virtue signal

doing something considered positive mainly for the sake of social/media brownie points, but not genuinely for the virtue of doing a good deed

for example, a celebrity comedian giving a "girl power" speech promoting feminism to the media, but really doesn't give a shit about women/other women off camera

despite being a lying asshole, the comedian can then garner positive acclaim from advocates of feminism, which can boost turn outs for seeing the comedian's shows and increase media opps

if you don't believe the average person ever does this, fine
but at least acknowledge that many celebrities, politicians, and other wealthy elite are notorious for it
because pretending to be a progressive face can pay...

with social media, it becomes a glorified form of being photoed while kissing babies or "saving" a puppy
