But yeah. They have Hoenn and Kanto regions, with gen 2 Pokemon in there somehow, though I'm not sure Johto region itself is there.

It's crazy fun. I've done a bunch of Emerald playthroughs and figured I'd get bored, but something about seeing other people's avatars and a chat window and all the classic MMO stuff makes it very enjoyable.

You know why it's so legit?

Because GameFreak sucks at innovating and the formula is stupidly easy

They went somewhere in SS with the pokemon walking behind you, in X/Y they finally had clothes, but every time they come up with some basic modern rpg feature they just throw it out in the next game and replace it with some meaningless gimmick in the next.

Which gen's combat system are they using?

Should try Pokemon Revolution Online (PRO). Has upto Sinnoh region I believe.

Do you mean like move buffs and whatnot?

Based on my limited experience and occasional chat bubble, they use "moves introduced up to gen 3, but with their attributes as of gen 6."

It's inconsistent though. For example, my Nuzleaf learned Thief, and it said it had 60 power. Thief only had 40 power in gen 3, but was buffed in gen 6. HOWEVER, my Marshtomp's Surf has 95 power, though it was nerfed from 95 to 90 in gen 6 as well.

In other words, Thief's buff was applied, but Surf's nerf was not, despite both changes happening in gen 6. So, maybe they just included buffs and neglected nerfs? Because Thunderbolt also does 95 in PokeMMO, but that was nerfed to 90 in gen 6 as well.

It's not official at all. It's been out since at least around 2012 (the oldest post in the "announcements" section of the forum). But honestly, I can't find a single way to donate or contribute or anything, so it doesn't seem like they're making any money. Hopefully Nintendo/GF is lax since it doesn't appear to be for-profit (as far as I know).

Probably because it's based on the gen 3 software and animation? >_>

We actually have more trainer customization options in SM, but we still don't have much starting customization although we have shops early on with more selection. Plus nothing you described is a basic modern RPG feature. And most features are actually kept. Even the day/night system -- which most RPGs don't have -- eventually came back.

MMO is a genre that companies do not want to even make anymore. It is just too unprofitable because they cost to much to develop and the idea of a sub mmo is pretty much dead there are like 2 major ones left WoW and FF14.

Your eyes might be closed. A new mmo is released every week, and it's the most profitable genre, especially now.
PokemonGo should come to mind, a multi billion dollar mmo.

Considering it's also massively multiplayer and online, I'd argue that it's also an MMO.

It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Also, this pokemmo is getting a C&D as soon as Nintendo's lawyers see it.

Oooo, I didn't see that. I haven't used any of the bottom right icons. Mainly just the bag so I can use more repels.
