Yeah I don't think I would consider a long term or even short term relationship with a religious extremist

If you answer the question, "how long will it be before you and a partner first have sex?" with "only after the wedding" then it's just not going to work out.

Religion, in and of itself, does not offend me in the slightest.

How said religion is EXPRESSED, however, would determine how I feel about it.

Then again, I feel exactly the same about Atheism. If someone is an Atheist but they're an asshole about it, that's far more of a deal-breaker for me than someone who is intensely religious but treats it as a mostly personal experience (in spite of the fact that I'm probably more sympathetic to their world-view as a Secular Agnostic than I am any existing religion).

Basically, assholes are assholes, regardless of what they profess to believe in. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to sell you something, or are also one of the assholes.

Exactly this. I don't care what you believe, so long as you aren't actively trying to push it onto others or trying to work it into every conversation.

Besides, I very rarely discuss religion with any of my friends and family, and when I do, it's always, "Well, I think it's this, but I could be wrong. We don't know enough to be sure."

Yup. Turned down a girl I liked because I was a militant atheist and she was the organ-girl.

It's not a "turn off", even if we never talk about it what am I supposed to do? Pretend that someday I'm gonna marry her and watch my kids go to church every Sunday?

She might consider my atheism and interest in the occult a turn off.

I could not date a girl who adamantly believed in ghosts or santa or magic or zodiac signs or anything else that is silly and absurd

I'd fuck them though

I wouldn't have a issue if she understood I'm a Atheist and won't share the same views as her.

Or you could let your theoretical kids make their own choices. I'm sure if she was fine with you being an atheist that she'd be fine with them also choosing that.

My mom had my sisters and I go to church a few times and we decided we didn't like it, so that was it. We never went again after.

I totally made the choice to have my mortality threatened and get scared into going to church every Sunday at the wise old age of 6.

Or I could not expose them to the exact same indoctrinating damaging brainwash that I grew up with that had me up till 3 am crying about going to hell and being afraid of my sexuality, at least not without throwing my two cents in which would be "don't take it too seriously son".

This girl was very religious.. Bible study and all. She wouldn't be happy with that attitude.

Who cares about God? I don't like this church.

It wouldn't be a turn off for sex things, but it would be for dating.

Besides, extremely religious people probably usually want to be with some one only in their religion.
