Does anybody know if there is any rhyme or reason to their delivery charges? Panda Express is like a mile away but has a 6.99 delivery charge, but Cheesecake Factory which is a good 15 minutes away, is a restaurant, and is more expensive is only .99 cents.

I got Buffalo Wild Wings, in case you were wondering

I didn't know delivery charges could be less than a penny.

I don't have door dash here, but in some cases the resteraunt pays for part or all of the delivery cost (as apposed to hiring delivery drivers), which reduces or gets rid of the delivery fee for the customer.

It's a very smart move, especially because often the same resteraunts increase their base menu prices for the online delivery.

They do it here as well.....so for instance olive garden might normally charge $9.99 for a pasta dish, but if you order from mytown2go, it's 12.99, but there is no delivery fee from them.

This actually makes them more money though if you are ordering more then 1 item (and there is almost always a min order charge).

Since you need to spend at least $15 to qualify for delivery...that means probably 2 items that cost $3 more then normal....which means they are making $6 extra......and are very happy to pay the $5 delivery fee.

If you order more then 2 items they make even more.

Anyway, that is why you'll see a diff in delivery costs....some companies are smart and get you in other ways, while making you think it's a great deal.

Only 99 cents for delivery......awesome (orders 30$ worth of food....that would normally only cost $20). I totally made out!!

To expand on this a bit more, look at how much better this is then having your own delivery drivers.

You don't have to pay them, pay medical coverage etc. You can write off the delivery charges as an expense (so in a way you are actually not even losing money for it) AND you can compensate for those charges by setting your online food prices to whatever you want.

The delivery service does all the work, the scheduling etc, they have to deal with any mix ups, late deliveries etc, and insurance needed for the drivers.

You basically get free delivery to anyone in the area, with no downside, no risk and no overhead.

It's a GREAT deal for restraunts....and still a good deal for the delivery company as well tbh.

Even with the extra cost it's still a pretty good deal for the customers though, since even with the extra cost your probably only spending another 5-8$ and get all your food brought right to your door.

Email Panda Express for me so their delivery charge isn't 6.99

He means that they often determine the cost by the distance to and from where the order is picked up. In this case they might be right near the cheescake factory, but Panda Express is across town from their starting location.

Even though they STILL would need to go all the way to your house, the base cost of delivery is calculated based on how far away the pickup is from the office, so Panda would be more expensive then cheesecake.

That being said, it's probably what I said above, nothing to do with distance.

You would probably want to talk to DoorDash or whatever it's called directly. I do all the time with Mytown2go, I have helped them expand and improve their business model over the last 6 months. It was worth the time and effort as it caused far more places to be added to the delivery linup. Only problem is I helped make them much larger with way more people ordering and now their delivery time is always over an hour (and one time it took 2 hours but they delivered it for free at least).

The door dash people may not have offered the resteraunts the option to pay for the delivery fees yet, and/or post their own prices on their website. Mytown2go does both, and you order your food directly from the website (With the prices listed there). It's a great model and makes everyone happy.

Eventually doordash etc will get hip to it as well, but you could always contact them and speed up the process.

Just looked at which panda they're going to.. it's the one in the mall. I think that's why. They offer every restaurant in the mall (our food court is pretty massive here) and they're all 6.99. They probably just hang out there until they get an order.

Wings were delicious btw
