I managed to talk about video games to someone on grindr(something that never happened before). I still have 80% dick picks or messages like "sex now!" or "are you top or bottom"? why do straight people tell me they would enjoy to have women like that?

Probably because it's a smaller market, if you will, and the dating options are limited. So less choosy people?

That could be totally wrong and I'm just blowing hot air.

Why do straight people wish women were more straightforward about sex on an app for sex? Gee I wonder.

Everytime I find a guy cute, he acts like a slut. I don't want a model, but I'd like to find a guy who respect himself.

Where do I meet gay guys otherwise? It's not as easy as it was in high school to meet new people?

This. Don't go to the meat market if you don't want people to offer you sausage.

I know, right? I'm always averse to show any interest in guys who make themselves look or sound stereotypically gay (pierced ear, etc.) because I associate that with a lack of desire for something meaningful.

Thankfully, when you actually meet gay guys by talking to them instead of looking on hookup sites or clubs or by their appearance, most do want something loving and with hopes of it lasting. There is generally a lot more openness towards inviting others into the circle for fun and some other unusual relationship conventions for guys, but nothing like, "I just want to fuck, and then maybe I'll stick around if it's good."

I wish I knew a way other than friends of friends and locations where your chance of meeting people who just want to fuck are increased. You could try a real dating site instead of a hookup app, but I have no experience with those. I will provide the amusing anecdote that if you ever want to go hang out with a bunch of furries, you can be assured that like 90% of them will be bi.

Pierced single ear (an old convention, not really relevant on its own any more) in conjunction with other things, really.

Nah, you just forgot the part about the majority of dating men being more ambitious towards casual sex (compared to the majority of women) because of biology (guys tend to have a higher sex drive, they don't get pregnant, etc).

You can see some clear cut trends when comparing the lesbian communities to gay male communities. The lesbians have a higher frequency of committed relationships and parenthood. The gay males have a much higher frequency of casual sex and open relationships. People of either demographic can demonstrate the prominent qualities of the other, but they're less common.

Committed monogamous gay male couples like seen on TV are actually very uncommon below ages 40.

I would not take any of that as a cue to not bother looking for an exclusive partner as a gay man. There's still a substantial amount of gay men who are only interested in long term monogamy, partially because they get fed up with the drawbacks of hook-up culture. Just don't expect guys who look like calendar centerfolds then. The hotter a gay guy is, the less incentive he has to settle down, the more often other gay men will proposition him for sex discouraging him from remaining exclusive.

It's why so many long term gay male couples look, well...very plain.
