Like water. Why buy bottled water when you can buy a filter and use that to refill your bottle.

If there's something that I can get for free, but it requires more effort on my part, I'll gladly pay instead.

Or if one of your friends or neighbors has a filter, you fill up bottles at their place.

When you poop and pee be sure to scoop up the water before you flush for drinking use (you can purify it) so you can be more resourceful and not waste that water on just a flush.

Yeah because you've had tap water all over America, right? It's just ignorant to speak that way considering how big America is. There is a huge variety of sources.

You sound like someone who just wants to hate on it for no reason.

It's apparently worse in Germany. Lived there for three years and was always told to flat out NOT ever drink tap water there.

I didnt want to sound so hostile. It was a little hyperbolic but post #6 was also I grave generalization that isnt true. I do see the irony in my reply though.
I was really disgusted when I tried drinking tap water on the west coast also chlorine in my coke from mcdonalds also cemented this opinion into me.

Bottled water still has way more uses than just being water. It's automatically portable and has more uses than just drinking. So does regular water but considering how cheap bottled water is, it's a non issue.

Bottled water all the way.

This. I exclusively drink bottled water, even in my home. A pack of 40 half liter Deer Park water costs just under $3; it's cheaper than buying filters and tastes better (since filters don't remove fluoride, unless you go crazy and buy a $500+ filtration unit).

Reverse-osmosis filters are expensive as hell. Most other filters don't filter out most of the truly harmful stuff. Brita filters are especially bad for giving people a false sense of security.

It depends. In the case of things like water, I agree. It's no better quality and unless there is a serious problem with your current locations water or being able to source it, there is no reason to buy it.

If you are talking about pirating things; I don't know. I have a conscious about it. I like making sure that the companies/bands/etc that produce creative content can continue to do so.

Not a good comparison. Contaminated water is something that can be measured and proven right now, and we've seen that coverups can and have happened. People who are skeptical of GMOs worry about unforeseen consequences that are harder to measure without long-term studies that may be open to interpretation anyway.

Nah jk the water here tastes great actually, I'm pretty lucky

People don't seem to realize that the filtration method matters.

- If the bottle doesn't say it's filtered then it's probably tap water.
- Distilled water is the purest but isn't recommended to drink as your main source of water.
- Reverse-osmosis filters out basically everything but the good stuff.
- Brita and similar models only filter out some of the bad stuff. Some lead will still get through if it's present.

Also, there are no benefits to drinking fluoride since it's only effective topically. Just use a fluoridated mouthwash, which is more effective anyway.

Or fluoridated toothpaste

Though I kinda worry for my brain cells and whatnot because you know that some amount of that shit manages to slither down your throat when you brush your tongue
