15th century heifer, Zhang He, under orders from Ming Dynasty conservatives, burned the world's largest fleet that was their own Chinese fleet that contained the biggest ships. Way bigger than European boats, who were 19 meters long, because the Chinese boats were up to 120 meters long.

The "Treasure Fleet" could have circumnavigated and conquered the world but instead the repressive conservative Ming Dynasty burned it because he said they were afraid of FREE TRADE. There were 3500 ships compared to 300 in the US NAVY. They sailed to Africa and back decades before Columbus was even born.

The government DESTROYED Zhang He's records in the 1470s because of fear because they feared the expeditions would be repeated. By 1525 all ships were gone. Imperial heifer told the court Mongolia can't be stopped by sea and the ships cost too much even though the potential gains were obviously greater than the sum of all fears. And that the free trade was feared.
