Install central heating and air. It's a worthwhile investment if the house is otherwise perfect.

In older restored homes, especially, this is not as easy as it sounds.

How old we talking here? My parent's house was 50+ years old when they added it.

Depends on where you live, if you can deal with the heat or buy a portable A/C unit for cooling a few rooms down you should be fine but if you want it be cool everywhere you gonna have to get Central air.

Also, to add Central Air to an older home with no duct work could cost you a shitload. I know for the house I'm currently in, it will be about $15,000 or higher.

Definitely worth it in my opinion especially if you are looking at owning a house for a long time.

yeah, I meant it might be worth it to him if he likes the location enough. Maybe you can find something you like nearby for less than the difference, but maybe not

if you already own it its basically a no-brainer

So with no duct work, it's going to be a pretty penny to add that plus a furnace and AC unit. That's probably going to be at least $15k to make that upgrade. Probably not worth the effort.

it def. depends on the housing market where he is

probably not worth it in most places, but if hes in a major metro area or really wants to live in an urban core in a moderate sized metro area it might be
