Weird, because it received good reviews, critical praise, and sold fairly well. One of my favorite video game environments and stories ever. But hey, this is CE, and people seem to have trouble understanding how opinions work around here. (Maybe more social experience would help them?)

The world and environmental design is easily the best and frankly only good part of that game. I'm a mechanics focused gamer and I thought the dumbed down gunplay was fucking atrocious.

The main game was so good, if a little easy.

But fuck Burial At Sea so hard. Even with playable Elizabeth it managed to completely ruin the game's lore so quickly.

Game's real good.

Cool to hate it.

There are some flaws, but it's fun, good story, good characters, pretty tight gameplay, great setting.

I played it for the first time on hard mode.

It's fun so far. I am a bit disappointed in how some weapons are inherently better than others. Shields also make the game very simplistic, especially when you get the upgrade that gives you invulnerability for jumping off a hook.

To me:

Bioshock = Evil Dead
Bioshock Infinite = Evil Dead II

Kind of felt like an awesome parody where everything was opposite of the first.

Bioshock -- Infinite
Undersea -- Sky
Angry Enemies -- Happy Enemies
Plasmids -- Tonics
Centralized Story -- Huge Story
Quiet Main -- Talkative Main
By Yourself -- AI counterpart
Claustrophobic -- Wide Open
Openish Exploration -- Closed Exploration

It's just like the epitome of AAA garbage for me. All style, no substance, big "WHOOAAAAA MAN THAT'S LIKE SO TOTALLY CRAZY DUDE" plot twist. Flashy visuals with half-baked, dirt-eating dumb gameplay, full of gimmick horseshit mechanics they didn't bother to flesh out beyond their handful of "HEY REMEMBER YOU CAN DO THIS" appearances.

It ain't good.

bioshock infinite was a steaming pile of garbage

it took all the atmosphere, nuance, and concepts of the first bioshock and dumped them all directly into the trash. end result is a boring, bland bro shooter with a nonsensical plot, lame set pieces, etc. just a crappy CoD clone sequel to one of my favorite games

reviews are subjective

sales reflect popularity, not quality

"critical praise"; what does that even mean for a video game? is it not just a glorified review?

Wrong poster, though I'm sure there are plenty of high selling games with critical praise you dislike.
And Undertale is still getting remixes of its music and player mods to this day while everyone's already forgotten about BI by the next year other than reminiscing (usually negatively) about it once in a blue moon like with many other forgettable AAA games that come and go. When people still bring up BI, it's to talk about the disappointing regression it made from the previous games and the fanfiction tier plot.

game journalism & reviews are some of the lowest forms of journalism out there. it is barely a step above those guys that review fast food items they eat in their car.

we know that a game review score means absolutely nothing because:

1. it is a proven fact that review scores are influenced by $$$ (i.e. that guy from Gamespot getting fired for giving Kane and Lynch a low score)

2. We know a lot of reviewers are unqualified to review games or provide any significant critical insight (i.e. that Polygon video of the person playing DOOM 2016, where the player acted like he or she had never played a video game before and was shooting health packs and shit)

3. We know that reviewers are susceptible to hype and are unable to look at the big picture (i.e. GTA4 has a higher metacritic score than GTA5, even though the vast majority of people would argue that 5 is a better game and that 4 had a lot of flaws, or MGSV getting 10s across the board the day the game came out and then was absolutely ignored afterwards)

so basically you need to view game reviews as a sort of PR. really all they are good for is letting you know if a game has some massive glaring issue that is so bad that even Ubisoftbux and OMG HYPE cannot compensate for, like constant crashing, game-breaking bugs, etc

nonsensical plot

I haven't played the game since it came out, and so I've likely forgotten some stuff, but what made the plot nonsensical?

The way it jumps around from city in the sky, the vox/whatever conflict, alternate dimensions, then proceeding to ignore and not resolving any of them in favor of the personal drama between Booker and Elizabeth culminating into a dumb ending that was just meant to go "WHAT A TWIST DOWNER ENDING" and was quickly overturned and made moot by Burial at Sea anyway.
Also, the way Levine tried to make it so that the whole universe was apparently set up to make Bioshock 1 happen (which is a fanfiction plot) so badly that he didnt care how badly the story and plot holes became.
For example, how was Rapture supposed to have been influenced by Columbia when the ending was supposed to have wiped it away from existence and never happening? Why was Elizabeth (who should've been wiped away at the ending) suddenly turned mortal from going into the real world when the luteces was in the real world all the time in the main story? How did Elizabeth get wiped by a big daddy when she could control time and space and beat Songbird while doing so?

tldr It became dumb fanficton/comic book quality writing. And it's not like the gunplay that regressed from the previous games makes up for it. The main redeeming feature of Infinite was the graphics and settings which was definitely amazing but doesn't excuse the inferior gameplay and writing.
