This. Someone knocking on my door means I ordered food or a package, or it is threat level midnight and a stranger is out there so I pretend I'm dead/asleep/not home.

Sometimes. I usually take a brochure and say "can't talk now, I have to take a dump" then they go "oh, uh, ok well have a good one" then leave

I have one of those doorbell cams, so if it is a neighbor or the delivery guy I will answer. Otherwise I just ignore it.

I've lived in dorms/apartments since moving from my parents', so I've never been approached by solicitors.

That said, if the situation ever arose, I would absolutely never open the door for one.

Which begs the question - who the fuck answers the door to an unidentified person these days? It's 2017, we don't even answer the phone if we don't know who's on the other end.

It's usually census.

I live in a weird location, so I almost never see any. The odd time anyone rings the bell or knocks, I assume it's important and go.

I do. I answer the door everytime someone knocks or rings. I'm not a pussy cowering in my house, afraid of a stranger at my door.

no. if i'm not expecting anything i will never answer the door. even if i have the blinds open and they can see that i'm home in the living room. i'll make eye contact with them through the window and just not even answer til they walk away.

I do this all the time 'cause it's what I grew up doing. I almost never get solicitors though. That mostly happened when I was living in the UK.

I don't understand why anyone would want to live in a house.

If you want to own a condo or co-op is the appropriate option.

yeah if you want water losses from other units on a regular basis fucking up your shit and 90% of the time the unit where the water came from isn't responsible.

i avoid having shared walls, ceilings/floors whenever possible.

I lived in an apartment for 4 years, and while I didn't have half the problems that most people have I still prefer having a house where I don't share a wall with someone.
