Man I just wanna say I freaking love Rivers in the Desert.

I was complaining about the music for this game initially but honestly I guess they just backloaded most of the good songs.

A combination of songs needing time to grow on me (Beneath the Mask) and good songs only playing at specific moments. Specifically with the second one I'm referring to Life Will Change. It generally takes me like 3-4 times listening to a song before I actually recognize it in my head as part of the soundtrack, and in that case that doesn't happen until like halfway through the game.

Yeah I do remember Last Surprise being disappointing to me the first play, but by the 10th play it totally clicked. I remember hearing Life Will Change somewhere before and it was okay, but it took until hearing it in context for it to click cuz it's soooo good. Tokyo Daylight and Beneath the Mask were instant classics for me though.

Persona does usually put a ton of badass songs towards the end which makes the endings feel totally epic. I wish they went back to what P3 did with the different spring/fall/january daily tracks. They really made you feel like you were progressing.

am I the only one who liked Mementos' music? not that I could explain what I liked about it, just kept bobbing my head to it

The Mementos music is probably one of the worst video game tracks to come out recently.

It's not just that's it's pretty dull, but you hear it for so long as for so often. You couldn't have chosen a worse song for a randomly generated dungeon...

I like it. Well, I don't love it, but I have no complaints about it at all. For a track that's supposed to sound discordant and weird, it still sounds good and chill. It fits the repetitive world and blends well with the car noises and the random bored dialogue from the party. I think it ends up being pretty thematically perfect, especially being more jazzy than most tracks.

I had no complaints about the Mementos music, but never really thought of it as a good song either.

It's worth mentioning that those are my feelings towards probably 80% of Persona dungeon music as well.

I do kinda like the Mementos music, but it definitely needed a Tartarus-style progression.

My only real complaint about the soundtrack is that the town themes are pretty mediocre except for Beneath the Mask, but even that takes a month or two to get lyrics and really become incredible. I feel like that's what I spend most of the time listening to in-game so it soundtrack didn't "feel" as good as the other games even though it's about the same overall.

This is also a good way for me to answer foolmo's question from earlier. I was never a big fan of Tokyo Daylight, and I think there was even a third town theme? I don't know the name of it but I'm pretty sure it exists at least. Whatever it was I don't like the song I'm thinking of.

Yeah there's way less lyrical background music than previous games. I think it's just another difference of theme between the games though.

I like Tokyo Emergency a lot but it very rarely plays. I think it usually starts when you begin the day in your room on a non-school day, and then once you leave it switches to another song. Not sure why they did this, since it's so good.

The grind is real right now.

I'm in Futaba's Palace trying to get the materials for the Eternal Lockpick. Got the Liquid Mercury's pretty quick but these goddamn Aluminum Sheets, my god... I've been in this palace for atleast 5 hours and I've only gotten SIX!

I find Mementos to be a better source of aluminium sheets
they pop up in the post 4th dungeon area as treasure (dont even think it was a rainy day)

never got the 10 liquid mercury though

Eternal lockpick is kinda useless anyways. I had more than enough just crafting on calling card nights+maybe one or two others I forget

Using a guide on this game feels like it'd suck a lot of fun out of the free time aspect of the game. :(

I'd understand if this was P3 level of demand but you can faff about a ton and still max everything really easily on a blind first run in this game.

But yeah, eternal lockpick is whatever for Palaces but sooooo good in Mementos with the right weather.
