I signed up on Coinbase today but it's not allowing deposits because the site is all messed up.

Can anyone refer me to another good one? I'm just trying to get started on this stuff.

Coinbase. Their website had some issues today, but they've been fairly reliable.

Trading and selling is really easy...it makes it feel like playing with monopoly money, but it's not.

Coinbase is the main thing I want to buy with, but it won't work. Deposits seem to be completely offline. We're all getting authentication errors.

But also there are a bunch of little ones that I'd like to buy into on other markets just in case they blow up like Bitcoin did!

For all the newer, little coins I think you usually end up having to trade Bitcoin, Ether, or Litecoin for them.

Use Coinbase and Changelly
Right now you're gonna want to invest in Ethereum, Monero, and NEM

Of course, this is essentially gambling so make sure you're fine with losing everything

So I signed up for this Changelly thing and it's acting like I basically can't buy anything. Even if I put in $10,000 it says that it converts to 0 of whatever currency I pick.

"USD/EUR rates are sligthly high now, sorry. Please check rates attentively before payment."

The typo above is theirs. In fact, pretty much everything on this site has dumb typos.

your best bet is to buy one of the three (doesn't matter which) on coinbase because it'll take credit cards, then use that currency to buy whatever other one you want on changelly

Ha! I can't win. I seriously can't fucking win. It's like there are forces out there that never want me to win at anything.

They claim that bank transfers are still up. Are they really? Well, small deposits are supposed to be made into my account to verify. Those have never come through.

They have a Paypal option. This requires taking pictures of my drivers license. Fine with me! I do everything they need, it says it got verified, yet I still can't fucking deposit anything. It just takes me in a loop.

Credit cards still give the error and can't verify.

I then hear about this other site I should be able to buy BTC on, Glidera. I go through the whole registration there and then get to bank account information, and my bank isn't on the fucking list. There's nowhere that I can just put the fucking routing number like any other application to find the bank. It's just not there.

Relax. It's not healthy to let yourself get this worked up. I'm serious.

If you're this anxious before you've even bought any you're going to be a wreck once you do have some and the price is jumping around like crazy.

I'm a veteran of the stock market... and of casinos. And you can bet I'd be going nuts if some bullshit error made me stand around the floor watching my numbers hit in roulette and not letting me get in on it.

Telling me to calm down isn't helping at all. Apparently a friend I told about it was able to get right on and deposit $500 so he's already off to the races while I'm just fucking stuck no matter what I do.

Got a response back from Glidera telling me to piss off:

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out!

Unfortunately at this time only the banks on the list are supported by Glidera. If you don't have an account at one of those you won't be able to use our service. We hope to be able to support all banks in the future. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Buy as much as you can reasonably afford to lose if it were to hit $0 tomorrow
It won't, but you need to be in the right state of mind

I've spent maybe $6k on what I have, don't regret it at all. It's only gonna go up, by the end of the year it'll be worth 10x what it is now

I have what is a probably a stupid question. I set up a nanoWallet and am going to try to buy a small amount later. What is the difference between the address and the public key? It says that it won't give me a public key until I make transaction.

If I want to buy from an exchange, I assume that I input the "address", correct?

This coin used to have a market cap of 8 million, and since it got delisted off poloniex, it’s now only 1 million. Development was taking forever and polo delisted without notice causing the price to plummet.

This is a VR app created by the founder of CNET! The app drops tomorrow on google play store and app store.
https://twitter.com/Voxelus/status/865197396762013696

It’s literally minecraft in VR. The youtube channel is active and devs just started posting and promoting it.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtR2XnmDs_WYaq2a7RNYNfA

There is a huge campaign on bitcointalk about to pump this coin, get in while it’s only at 1 mil. This will reach at least 3-4 mil market cap tomorrow. . This is a quick 500% coin, and has the potential for 2000% with the new roadmap.

A bitcoin "Address" is nothing more than a pairing of a public key (which you share with people to receive money, think of your public key as INBOUND ONLY traffic) and a private key (which cryptographically links to your public key, allowing you to spend said funds, OUTBOUND traffic).
As I'm sure you would have no issue with money accidentally coming into your account, your public address can be shown to anyone. However, to spend/move those funds, you must possess the private key. this is why they are named as such.

Sure. You need to buy on bittrex. It's pretty easy so long as you can get some funds into the wallet on there.
I'd recommend buying BTC on Coinbase and then send them to the address on bittrex. It's still hovering around 3000 and should hit 10000 easily so you're not behind or anything.
