After using Android ever since smartphones became a thing I switched from my Galaxy Note 5 and bought an iPhone 7 Plus so I could experience the other side for myself.

I don't like it. It's so dull and basic. You can't customize anything so I'm very limited to what I can do on this phone and it honestly feels like Apple is controlling me. In my opinion the only thing the iPhone 7 has on the Note 5 is the camera because the portrait/depth effect is beautiful. Anyway, I'm gonna return it and switch back. Now I know.

Good standard for choosing in the future: Apple is VERY intuitive when they come to their UI so that a wide-range of demographics can use their products. Typically Android-based devices are going to be fully customizable for those that can do that.

I know you know that now, but it's a good thing to remember.

Yeah. Only reason why I bought it was so I didn't just go by word of mouth and actually got hands-on experience with the iPhone. Oh well.

From the few apple products I've used they are very unintuitive. They do things completely reverse to others just to be different. Trying to use a Mac or iPhone is a pain in the ass.

when you update your android phone and have to google to find out why everything on your phone is now fucked up, when you have to google why your phone is bleeding battery life late at night, why your phone is eating up all your data, etc

my s6 edge was a great phone but a huge pain in the ass about stuff like this

I made the switch (to iPhone 5 at the time) after my Android appeared to have some sort of virus that caused it to randomly shut down and glitch. Frustrated, I made the switch.

Apple customer support is amazing, I've been able to return phones for a brand new one even without AppleCare or insurance. I do miss the customizable options and awesome apps like Game Boy emulators, but the iOS system appears super secure and I haven't had many software problems with it.

I was the opposite TC(I went Android -> iPhone and stayed there)

I can appreciate the customization of Android but I'd rather not need to spend the time tweaking every little thing and debloating my phone because the OEM was a shithead who sold out to my carrier and cant be bothered to use the stock Android UI(and instead wasted time+money making their own shitty skin which is worse than stock Android). I might give a Pixel a go once they show up on T-Mobile but after trying a couple different Android phones I've sworn off non-Google phones tbh.

For normal people the meme of "they just work!" is pretty apt. Once you get past the average level of tech literacy its pretty irrelevant though(and if you're used to how Windows or Android does things, OSX/iOS can throw you for a loop). But these days most devices are designed well enough and most people have used enough tech that Apple doesnt have much of an edge in that department anymore.

The price complaint people usually bring up I don't get though, because they usually have a flagship Android phone themselves.

For me it's not really about customization of the phone itself, but rather what sort of compatible peripherals / software I can have.

I can, for example, install any application I want to without rooting the phone (unless the app itself requires root). I can browse my phones internal folder structure. I don't have to use iTunes to screw around with what's on or not on the phone. I don't have to buy proprietary cables to charge the phone (the new iPhone is switching to USB Type-C due to a law in europe, but they were all previously proprietary). Oh, and I have a headphone jack.

Because atm android devices barely last a day and my iphone lasts like a week. Tell me when an android device can last a week or more on idle withour charge with minor usage each day, because thats certainly not the case today

Hour of web browsing a day + idle in my pocket. Any phone should be capable of that. The latest android update made this thing a POS as well in terms of responsiveness. Sometimes it just freezes typing messages in gamefaqs. I wouldnt expect that of a iphone 3gs yet its a common occurrance on my galaxy note 5 which was the best phone money could buy at the time.

I honestly have zero problems with it. Maybe if you'd shut off services that aren't needed and don't load it with garbage they'd work better. But hey, iPhones were made for people like you, it's ok to not like settings.

Samsung makes great hardware but fuck it up with their proprietary OS and apps

That being said in my equal time with both iPhone and Android my experience with IOS has been more solid. Jailbroken IOS is better than Android but naturally it doesn't happen often enough to be reliable
