And iPhone is still god tier when it comes to battery and standby time

Android is stupid in how it drains battery no matter how many precautions you take or how many battery saving settings you have turned on; have an Android phone I use for Uber and it's always draining itself when in standby for whatever reason, so I have to turn it off.

My S7 Edge and Note 7 had bigger batteries than my 7 Plus and yet the iPhone lasts longer than both

Eh, I disagree with this sentiment. Smartphones these days are used for so many more things than what a "phone" can do (make/receive calls and text messages), so they're pretty much computers.

I think what people mean when they say this is that you can't judge it solely like a computer. People love bragging about Android hardware specs but they routinely lose to an iPhone in speed tests; there isn't one single aspect that matters the most with smartphones like computers.

I think what people mean when they say this is that you can't judge it solely like a computer. People love bragging about Android hardware specs but they routinely lose to an iPhone in speed tests; there isn't one single aspect that matters the most with smartphones like computers.

Because companies like Samsung load their phones up with so much garbage it's ridiculous. Not only is the operating system modified and proprietary with all kinds of extra DRM bullshit added to it, but there are all kinds of preinstalled applications that you cannot remove. These applications get installed by both the phone manufacturer and the carrier, so if you buy a Galaxy phone on Verizon, your phone ends up with this bullshit modified operating system that has shitware installed on it by both Samsung and Verizon and these fucked up launchers that make the device look pretty but really just slow it down and remove functionality in the name of making their UI look unique.

There is no way to restore those phones, you have to wipe them completely and install your own rom, which is stupid. I shouldn't have to do that. It's fine for people who want to do it, but I shouldn't have to. I should be able to just buy a phone and it not have anything not necessary for the operating system preinstalled.

The number of phones that meet the criteria out of box like that is actually very small and absolutely 0 of them are made by Samsung.

Samsung makes great hardware

the accelerometer burned out in my S6 Edge on the first day of using it, the phone would overheat, the OIS was loose and would rattle around when you shake the phone / make a grinding noise when you start the camera, the battery would give me under 1 hour of screen on time, etc

and then the next phone Samsung made literally burst into flames

they make cool looking SHIT hardware
