Pretty sure he'll be forced to comply or risks going to jail for contempt of court if he's ordered to by the court. If no, it doesn't matter because they can't get a conviction. Regardless, its generally better to take a plea deal before it gets that far if you're looking at a conviction. It's highly informative and kind of entertaining even, but people who commit high profile crimes like Flynn did gain only limited benefit from refusing to testify in the sense that they won't also be booked for lying about their testimony later.
