If I remember correctly, you literally CAN'T refuse to testify to a Senate committee because it's not a criminal investigation. Pretty sure he'll be forced to comply or risks going to jail for contempt of court if he's ordered to by the court.

That said, going to jail for contempt of court is probably better than treason charges. Regardless, this looks terrible for him and the Trump administration.

LOL

Flynn is guilty of multiple FARA act violations with Turkey and Russia (which have already resulted in subpoenas). That's why he's pleading the 5th. Not because he has any secret documents detailing nefarious deeds with the Russians involving the hacked emails.

Depends on if they have enough evidence to convict you without your testimony. If yes, a jury will fucking murder you. If no, it doesn't matter because they can't get a conviction. Regardless, its generally better to take a plea deal before it gets that far if you're looking at a conviction.

Mostly him as it sounds like he was treasonous far before Trump came along. It does look bad on Trump for keeping him around I guess but this is a far more reaching issue than that.

"So there are five of them taking the Fifth Amendment, like you see on the mob, right?" he said at another rally in Iowa, though it was three former Clinton staff members who pleaded the Fifth. "The mob takes the Fifth Amendment. If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?"

Yeah, let's totally ignore that Flynn is caught up in two very different legal investigations, one of which has already resulted in subpoenas. Both related to the FARA act. None related to the DNC hack.

The Fifth Amendment protects predominantly innocent morons from accidentally saying incriminating statements. Someone like Flynn isn't winning over anyone by pleading the fifth amendment.

Please watch the video of the lawyer posted above. It's highly informative and kind of entertaining even, but people who commit high profile crimes like Flynn did gain only limited benefit from refusing to testify in the sense that they won't also be booked for lying about their testimony later. He may also be trying to bargain incriminating testimony of others for immunity for himself.

It's an amendment that states you cannot be compelled in any criminal investigation to testify against yourself. If you invoke it, you just don't have to testify. I don't know how it works over with information / evidence. I thought it only applied to spoken words.

Yeah, someone posted it the other day and I did the same thing. At first I was like "Wtf at this length? Fuck it, I'll give it 5 minutes." Next thing I knew the cop was wrapping up his half. This should be required viewing for literallly everyone in the country
