I've got to say, while it definitely was a good Alien film, it's as if they completely erased Prometheus. Like they wanted to pretend it didn't happen. And by killing all the engineers AND killing Shaw they did just that. Prometheus was good and im probably the minority. If it had answered more questions than it posed, it would have been brilliant.

But now, it almost seems like those questions are NEVER going to be answered. Ever. And it sucks to think about that.

Also Prometheus was terrible. It's a real shame too, because if you've read about original plans for the story, you know how good it should have been.

I know I know. I've beat myself up over it already. My only gripes were the unanswered questions. Sucks that scrapped most of the original plans for it. Really does. But rather than try to erase it. Answer the damn questions. It haunts me. I like horror and death as much as the next guy but i also love intrigue and deep thinking.

and guess what?Giving the ending it will almost be as if this movie hasn't existed as well,since everything that happened could have been easily explained in a couple of minutes without for the movie at all.
So it kinda felt pointless in the long run.If Davids experiments and genoocide had been in it instead of just a small explanation/flashback it would have been a bit better imo.

The movie itself was allright though,except for the subpar pacing and the whiny female lead.

If you like the Alien series, then I'd say yes.

It's a departure from the rest. But my wife and I enjoyed it.

Lol. My wife didn't catch that it was David at first. She said she'd have to watch again to see when the switch happened. I told her because I noticed immediately.

The guy sitting next to me and someone else in his part kept saying Fuck at parts of the movie. You know that elongated Fuck like they're surprised.

It's basically a reboot without it actually being a reboot. Completely disappointing the more I think about it. I'm hoping there's another gap between the genocide and David's descent. But I won't hold my breath. Motherfucking fuck I wanted answers. >:(

Yes. Very entertaining but as a huge fan of Prometheus, I am disappoint.

I thought it was boring and the dialogue kept making me laugh. :/ but the little white alien babies were sooo cute

Yeah, but it didn't really say whether he killed her himself, if she really did die in the crash, or if she died from his experiments. Just seeing her body dissected didn't really answer much imo.

It wasn't said specifically, but his reaction to Walter's question made it pretty obvious.

Not going to watch it, but its basically the prequel that tells what happened to the ship they find in the first alien, right?

So instead of another sequel they can now release "Alien HD"as a followup :p

Shit, I don't even like the second movie in the series and I think I'm alone in that. Too actiony.

Nah. That was Prometheus. Covenant is the sequel to Prometheus. It feels very hollow in the sense that practically no questions were answered and the most interesting parts of Prometheus were killed in favor of crazy David and lots of gore and killing.

Supposedly the next movie will answer all of that and be set between Prometheus and Covenant.

Ridley has already said he wants to do 3 more after that if it does well.

Yes, it made more questions than it answered, but that doesn't make it a bad movie for me.

Then again, I only love the Alien universe. Except Resurrection and Requiem.

Makes me want to go back and read The Female War.

That may have been what he meant. But what I read said he wants to do 3 more. This was after Covenant was already done and talking about Awakening. Either way.

And there's plenty to drag out. I almost can't get enough of Aliens series. >_>

Makes me want to go start reading my old pen and paper RPG manual for it.

I would have no issue with more movies in general,though the prequels that close in from Prometheus to Alien don't have neccesary that much to cover in my opinion.

If there would be movies that take place after Resurection,or betwen Alien and Aliens in example ,it would be fine.

But not more prequels just for the sake of making prequels.

The best way I've seen this put is that it's a reboot without actually rebooting.

It might tie directly into Alien at some point. But it looks like it'll just kind of putz around on its own in different parts of space.

i saw it this weekend. it felt like Prometheus 2 rather than an Alein movie.

I feel like Ridly Scott should have just made the Blade Runner movie and keep androids out of aliens. I hope this is a some kind of joke that they are playing with us. Blade Runner going to be more about Aliens rather than Androids and their evolutions.
