It's on Steam now for like $14. Feels like someone married Symphony of the Night with Dark Souls. Not unlike Salt & Sanctuary, but still pretty different from that. I think Dead Cells is more difficult than Salt & Sanctuary. Having a lot of fun with it.

Funny; I've been wondering whether there are any games that combine those two seemingly opposite genres. They're two of my favorites, so I'll definitely have to check this out.

I looked into it and like it but I see complaints of corrupted save files.

It's still in early access I think, so I'd expect to find the occasional bug or glitch. If that concerns you, may as well wait until it's official release. Hopefully they can work out all of the kinks.

For what it's worth, I haven't come across anything gamebreaking yet.

I got it and it's fun. Few things could be improved though and advancement is kinda slow. It's especially annoying that there is no way to recover souls you lose when you die (like in souls games etc). You can't even decide to leave cause your low on health etc and use the souls you have.

I don't really have anything to spend souls on right now (already got the second potion upgrade), and I like the starting weapon better then any of the others I can upgrade (not to mention the upgrades are only 5% a pop). Even so, I just was on the ramparts (third run), and had 55 freaking souls when I died. That is alot of souls just poof...gone...with no way to save them till you finish the whole area.

At least I wasn't like...saving souls for something...so I guess it doesn't matter much (Especially since the starting weapon seems like the best weapon from the few I have tried). I've upgraded the twin daggers some since it does more damage, but honestly, you mainly want to stun everything by hitting it, and the starting sword does decent damag,e attacks fast...and stuns everything, so it works just fine.

Biggest difference around that is the amulets and items you get (good freeze/stun items etc make life so much easier).

I always go for more health if it's an option, since it makes such a big diff (also affects how much you get form your potions), again, damage isn't THAT improtant (As most things you hit get stunned so die eventually once you can hit them anyway. The last option (boosting item damage etc) isn't nearly as good as health.

So....it mainly comes down to luck on the items you get so far. Still like the game and think it has good potential to get better. Just need more upgrade options (I know as I unlock more items, more options will show up, but I hope that starts happening fast, as I really have nothing worthwhile to put souls into right now.
