Gilgabot's also been running some cryptic polls for the last few months about each job class. seems like there's some new plans for 2017.

Not terribly.

It will usually be harder than a typical FF5 run though.

the first fiesta i ever did was my first ever playthrough of ffv, it was pretty fun. I've actually never played this outside a fiesta, i think it would kinda be boring to try and go back and do one with no restrictions

This has been talked about.

People generally realize rather quickly that Bravely Default is way too much of a dick for that to really work.

BD wouldn't work well at all with a Fiesta style for many reasons, #1 of which is that you don't get some classes until like 90% through the game.

as for what the Fiesta is and if it's hard:

https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/1101-final-fantasy-v-four-job-fiesta/73852357

it really isn't that challenging unless you get really unlucky. you can learn what your classes can do really quickly and get a good idea of your options.

It's usually not that difficult of a challenge and part of the fun is learning things you didn't know about the classes you are given. You only use 4 jobs the whole game so you get to become an expert in each of them. Also, there will be an active Board 8 topic about it so if you ever get stuck you have people you can turn to for advice.

So if I do a regular run, I'll get my four jobs and once those jobs become available I'm free to switch between them? Or do I assign one job per character and that's what they're stuck with?

I think that someone who has never played FFV before could reasonably still win the game under FJF stipulations, although there ARE a couple of class draws that would make this a lot harder.

The former, at least under normal rules (there are rules that work the latter way, but you don't have to do that). You get one job at a time each time you unlock new jobs, and then you can mix and match those four jobs freely among your party, as long as you always have at least one of each at any given time. You can use any secondary abilities that you've learned from those four jobs on other jobs too.

The absolute vanilla version gives you four jobs. You must use one copy of each job in every battle but you can change which character uses a job. So for example if you get Summoner, you can eventually teach every character Summon. There is also a version of the challenge which each character is assigned one job permanently for the whole game.

Half the jobs in the game can pretty much fuck the game apart with one ability or another, so you'd have to get stuck with a pretty unlucky combo to really run into serious trouble - being able to just use a knight, a white mage, and a black mage at will, and whatever else, certainly makes the game a little more beginner-friendly, but FJF largely just narrows down options - although sometimes you do get party combinations that are just shit, something like Thief/Berserker/Beastmaster/Dragoon

I feel like an idiot asking all of these questions. If I only get one wind shrine job, let's say monk, can it only be assigned to one person at a time? Or could I use four monks until I get my next job?

no worries.

start game
play up to wind shrine with four freelancers
roll your first class: monk
play with four monks up until the water crystal shatters
roll your second class: summoner
play with 3 monks, 1 summoner -- or 3 summoners, 1 monk, however you want, just so long as you have one of each. play up to the fire crystal
roll your third class: ninja
play with 2 monks, 1 ninja, 1 summoner. mix and match their skills as you see fit: a ninja with barehanded, a monk with !summon, however you want. just make sure you have one of each.
and so on

Important distinction. 2 Monks 2 Summoners is also valid.

I don't think chemist is the absolute like most winningest class - it probably has the most tools it can use to break open the most fights, including the optional bosses, without the help of any other class, but it takes a lot of forethrought and game knowledge and gathering of materials to do everything, whereas a class like summoner can basically win at everything that chemist can but with like 10% as much preparation or strategy
