That Poe X-Wing scene was enough to make him worthwhile.

i just don't see why he has a fanbase....unless its just to do with "He's hot that's all we need"

Did you not read the post that you quoted? "That X-Wing scene was enough to make him worthwhile." A non-force user piloting that well is great to see and makes him likable to me.

The X-Wings flying in over the water was my favorite scene in the whole movie.

Poe had relevance in the story. Phasma could have been replaced by Stormtrooper number 318 for all that she mattered. She was just a Stormtrooper that received a named credit because she was female.

The problem I had with that particular shot (the one where he takes out like fifty ties) is that it felt completely at odds with the more grounded approach Star Wars normally takes to dogfights. Maybe if Poe had been a bigger character and it felt there was more reason for it (other than him saying "yo I'm a great pilot" earlier) it might have been better, but his role in the film was akin to that of R2 D2. So while the scene was really cool, it also felt really weird in the context of a Star Wars film.

Wasn't he called the greatest pilot in the rebel fleet in the movie? Like "I expected more from the greatest pilot in the rebel fleet" or something.

Boba Fett is one of a lot of people's favorite characters, how much of his personality do you know?

While it's been a while since I watched it, I'm pretty sure more people than just Poe said he was a good pilot. I think some people said he was the best and I'm pretty sure someone called him an ace pilot. The X-Wing he was using was also a prototype I think. But I can't remember about that during that scene.
