For those who don't remember, this is the ex that wanted me to pay for her and her husbands abortion so she could "run away" with me, but when I refused it came out that she wasn't actually pregnant, and then she ended up filing for divorce anyways.

Now it looks like since she made more money than him and because she was the one who filed, she might have to start paying him support every month.

I can't stop laughing tbqh. She's getting exactly what she deserves.

I don't understand one ex spouse being forced to pay another if no children or abuse or something else that serious is involved. He's a big boy, he should find out how to support himself like we all have to.

He's leaving out the part about how she's been a very vocal facebook feminist for the better part of three years which makes this a bit more funny.

At least to me.

The worse bit is that she's now alleging that he physically abused her but she never filed any paperwork for the police or took pictures of her injuries or anything so I guess the court isn't taking it that seriously.

Where as her attempt to get me to pay for a fake abortion so that me and her could "run away together", along with her getting a new BF before they finalized their divorce somehow constitutes adultry or something.

At least, that's what she made it sound like. I think she might want me to get involved to try to help her and say nothing happened between us, which...nothing did, but she did try to initiate something so...

He's entitled to continue at the same level of lifestyle he's been accustomed to. That's why basketball players often have to pay their ex wives millions.

Baha, it sounds like she gets anything that comes to her. also wouldn't trust a word out of her mouth.

Much like most entitlements, that's ridiculous.

She sounds like a real dumpster fire of a person. A total basket full of crazy.

So you're against all forms of alimony that don't involve abuse or cheating? Assuming child support is still a thing of course.

One place where it comes up is when one partner works and supports the other person while they go through higher education. The courts don't want you to be able to just use someone as financial support and then get rid of them once your income spikes up.

Alimony is hard to get these days, there usually has to be a significant gap in pay or one partner not working at all while the other gets paid fat.

I wouldn't say all forms since I'm sure I'm not thinking of something at the moment where I'd support it.

Say a couple gets married. The husband worked a 6 figure salaried job, the wife works minimum wage retail. They live together for two years, no kids, no abuse, but they fall out of love. Husband divorces her, they sell the house and each get half. He buys a new house, she rents an apartment. Should he have to pay her any alimony?

No. Personal responsibility for that one. She got money from the house, she has an apartment, if she wants to kick up a fuss it's because she doesn't want to stop half-assing it with min. wage retail gig. And even then depending on her location she'd still be able to support herself. Where I live currently that is possible.

Alimony is BS. It is refreshing to see a man successfully obtain it though.

He hasn't gotten it yet, but he's making a good enough fight for it to freak her out.

Apparently he literally doesn't work and doesn't even have a high school education which I guess is another reason he might get it even though she doesn't make THAT much money.
