In the old days, against SSBM, CT would want to have 50% at the end of the Power Hour to win. CT would gain a lot overnight and lose a lot in the day, but the net change from 1 AM to the end would be about 0. Against FFX, based on last contest, CT would need 51.5% at the end of the Power Hour.

In the old days, as of 1 AM, projections are probably accurate to within 1% on each side 95% of the time. But here, our variance will be way higher. Like a lot higher. If our projections are accurate to within 3% instead of 1%, and 2001 is the average of FFX and SSBM, then we still have a chance.

No, GTA 3 was awful when it came out, and lord knows hasn't held up....


But other than that, the other 15 games are pretty strong, although I have no idea how weak 95 must be after CT for Full Throttle to be there.

I don't see why 95 should win based on one game no matter how good it is. Doesn't excuse a lot of dross that came out in the year.

98 isn't winning just because of OoT. Look at the pc lineup of games. It has quality for every platform and in a large quantity too. The best year should be the year with the best games in both quality and quantity.

It could be that all those series are causing it to be stronger than the sum of its parts. We also don't really know much about those NES games as the whole console's lineup save SMB3 was absent from BGE3, so they could have come in somewhat underrated. Add in the possibility of a pic controversy, and that's how 87 could look like an elite year.

But when Europe started waking up 2001 took over. FFX is a beast in Europe.

I don't care what the best game is. FFX is clearly a strong game. But add in a ton of other games and you have a better year

I've not heard any compelling argument about 95 being better aside from chrono trigger being the best game ever. Which it isn't. I wouldn't even put it in my top 5 snes games or top 10 games of the 90's.
