It's pretty noticeable of how it works when you have some screen tearing. (From what I remember. That may be wrong.) Speaking interlaced scanning (I didn't know this one so I Googled and clicked the first result again), it's where it basically refreshes at the same pace, but it only updates every second pixel skipping over a line in order to reduce the bandwidth used. (That's from what I can tell based on my quick Google search. I never looked into interlaced scanning before. May also be wrong.)
