I've seen maybe 2.5 or 3.5. Stone, Azkaban, and half of Chamber. Also part of Goblet of Fire, near the end or something.

Yeah that was a stupid scene in the 3rd movie. He never did illegal shit like that in the book. Not intentionally anyway.

the explanation given was that magic was "detected" there, which means it could have been anyone, but since only harry was supposed to be there, it must have been him.

and this was later abandoned until...order, i think, when harry used the patronus spell to stop some dementors from killing his cousin. then it became a big deal that he used magic at home again

I enjoyed all the movies. However like everything that gets turned into a TV series/movie the books are much better.
