Because music licensing people are terrible, Remedy will no longer be able to sell the fantastic Alan Wake as of Monday. So, for the last 48 hours where you can legally buy the game, it'll be 90% off on most digital stores, including GOG and Steam.
It's a great game, it's dirt cheap, and if you don't buy it now you might never be able to. So go do it. Play it. Love it. And join the rest of us fans desperately hoping against hope that we get a sequel one day. Oh, and the arcadey spinoff American Nightmare is reduced too, but not being pulled from sale. You should buy it too, just to support the franchise. --- The shattered stage is set and there's a role you must fulfil ... Copied to Clipboard!

Actually, you know what?
I'm calling these people out. These selfish assholes who won't allow their licensed songs in this amazing game and get it pulled off of the shelves! It's unbelievable. So you know what? Fuck you Old Gods of Asgard. You selfish, lying, thieving pieces of trash. You're lucky that Alan Wake came out to even peddle your shitty band, you scum bags. I used to like you guys, but now you can go to hell. How does music licensing work
I mean, how come something like this isn't more common? how do you have some games like say Sonic Adventure and their Crash 40 being on sale forever and the license never expires? how can you still buy GTA 3/Vice City etc when they have tons of songs from different bands? --- 3DS FC : 3411-1762-0066 ... A few years ago, most developers would assume that by the time the license expires, they'll no longer be selling the game anyway - it doesn't matter, license-wise, if physical copies are still floating around the secondhand market. But with the rise of digital sales, a publisher might still be making money off a work by the time the license to the included music expires, and so they either have to remove/replace the music with a patch, or pull the game.
BTW, I don't know for sure, but someone in another discussion about this implied that the GTA games have had part of their soundtracks patched out of some versions for this very reason. --- The shattered stage is set and there's a role you must fulfil ... Copied to Clipboard!

And a frustrating thing is that, with GTA games, some of the music was removed retroactively. In other words, even if you bought the game when the licenses were valid, you'd get a patch to remove music. That happened with San Andreas. I'm so happy I have the physical version of San Andreas on PC (the first one, which even supports Hot Coffee though I never tried it) for that reason. --- <D ... Copied to Clipboard!
