I just went with Big Bobs suggestions, not a bad idea but I figure if we follow SB's "diversity" thing having one Western game with hype and reception and sales would be good to have.

I dunno how RE7s reception compares to Nier Automata or Persona 5 but it would suck for one of those 3 to not be in! (stacked year!)

Once we get closer to the end of the contest, I'll run some sort of poll about a possible bonus match, including an option for running no bonus match (since a lot people don't have much interest in this contest).

Possible bonus matches include a Third Place Match (Semifinal 1 Loser vs. Semifinal 2 Loser) and the contest winner vs. 2017.

I would certainly drop Nier before dropping Horizon, and I love Nier. However they are probably about equal in strength and Horizon brings a bit more variety.

What really strikes me is that in this topic there has been no mention of tons of great games like Nioh that have not even been mentioned, along with big upcoming games like Splatoon 2. It goes to show how crazy 2017 is.

As for a bonus match, I hope we get it somehow, maybe against a semifinalist since 1998 would kill it. Then if it wins put it against a finalist? And then against the winner. I don't know.

Not really. It won the February games poll easily, has similar ownership to Nier, did similarly in the Q1 poll, it is probably just fine.

I didn't finish Horizon. It was good but I got more bored the more it opened up.

I don't like the idea of adding future games theoretically. I guess that's safe with Mario, but still.

But if were counting future things then Danganronpa V3.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is slated as a 2017 game, right. I wouldn't take that over Persona, but maybe it rounds out the quartet ahead of Nier and Horizon.
