I'm starting the remaster and it has the DLC!

I'm actually gonna start this first before doing the main campaign


I'm gonna do the Big Tits McGee story. Shes a good commander for her men, who knew!

I got to the mission where you have to destroy the tank by having everyone attack it from behind at like, the very start of the mission or else you end up unable to do it.

And it was stuff like that where it sapped all of the joy out of the game for me. I have a good time when there isn't insane nonsense like that and the giant tank (where for whatever reason my grenades refused to go inside it for some reason), but I feel like the game has some issues that could have been improved.

I may go around to giving it another shot. I dunno.

I will admit, every other mission has a weird quirk or two where you pretty much have to fail it before you can beat it

I also think this really sucks, that, and the way they handled EXP are the only flaws IMO

but I still think everything else is great

they DID take me awhile though

I think there are four missions, the story branches off depending on how you play (mission 1 is always the same, 2 and 3 can be different depending on if you killed General Dumbass in his tank or not). A ranking the first three of them unlocks the last mission

So basically just get an A on the first mission, beat it with Damon dead and A Rank the mission that follows. Do mission 1 again with Damon not dead and A Rank the mission that follows. Last stage unlocks

The first time I defeated Damon but got a D rank, then I got the mission where Selvaria is poisoned


I just now beat the mission 1 with an A rank, but got the Poison mission again


Beating Mission 1 with an A Rank AND Damon dead is gonna be stupid

I don't think you have to do it at the same time, you just need to have an A Rank of the first mission, then kill him so it branches off and you get to the alternate Mission 2. Then A Rank that one

It records your mission ranks after you've won, end goal here being an A in everything. But if you already have an A in Mission 1 you don't need to worry about your ranks on that anymore, just the branching path

So this was a really fun and exhilarating mission

having to defend a point with random units and having everything thrown at you


...but then Valkryia Chronicles pulled a VC and threw some shit at me that I could not have guessed


so The Mission is you have to defend a small camp in the middle of a battlefield for 3 turns

THEN the game was like lol okay now have Edy run around the map counter clockwise until she hits the south goal


How are you able to get an A rank on this on your first time?

well, you're probably not supposed to

Obviously you needed to have Edy start running for the goal ahead of time
I had NO reason to do that before hand. I NEEDED TO DEFEND THE CAMP

I bought this game half a year ago, along with other 3 games on steam.

After 2 of the games failed to run on my old laptop, I gave up.

I still want to play it some time.

yea, so its hard to pretend it doesn't exist >_>


unless you want to grind Skirmishes for a long time


but even then, I have more issue with the Trial and Error nature of some of the maps. Even if you DO pretend rank doesn't exist, some of the stuff they throw at you are too much of a curve ball to handle and you lose

Grinding was never a real issue for me. Take Alicia into Stage One, dump all your points into her. Beeline her for the goal (if need be waste enough points to gun down the immediate threats, but she should get there easily enough on the first turn without dying). Profit <_<

I don't remember which skirmish it was, one in the desert, but once Alicia awakens her powers, it can be done within one turn as long as you use a few orders


much better pay off than Skirmish 1

but unfortunately it can't be done til a little later on

For slightly more points and slightly more time involved, my other grinding place was the town stage with the tank on the middle road. Just send Sniper Wulf and some runners to the right, kill the enemies hanging out on the rooftops. Send a scout all the way over to the checkpoint tower on the right, return Wulf to base. Bring out another couple of runners (I used Vyse and Aika) and Wulf from the rightmost tower, have Wulf on the tower to kill the last couple of guys who would be getting in their way of the goal, including the guy on the turret if your Shocktrooper can't do it. Run to goal.

All goes according to plan, I usually got Vyse there on turn 2

I got a B rank on Chapter 3. that didn't last long


but with my underdeveloped soldiers and weak equipment (Except the Ruhm), I guess this was inevitable


also GOOD GOD The Ruhm destroys tanks in two shots. I thought it was all Selvaria's stats that did that or something. Its all the gun!

It finally dawned on me that I'm gonna have to grind the levels to get the top A ranks to get the medals


I don't think I'm looking forward to that
