Breath of the Wild is a fairly unique experience, especially within the context of the greater Zelda franchise.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes the same formula as previous Mario Kart games and refines it to perfection. Both are excellent - I'd give the nod to BotW for both novelty and play time, but you'd be good with either. --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer. Kill 10 men: You are a monster. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Both have immense replay value, especially with MK8 getting a real Battle Mode. I find myself playing hours of Zelda and then when I need a break, doing a cup or some online races on MK.

Depends entirely on whether or not you've got friends that you'll want to play Mario Kart with, and whether or not you've already got the original MK8. Both are fantastic; you won't be going wrong either way.
