I was once in charge of the Cardinals in lieu of VengefulKBM. I signed them G Tyler McMeans as a 70 UDFA. He started Week 1 due to injuries and became a 90-something G. That's the biggest leap from a non-K/P that I can recall from someone who entered the league after the inaugural season.

2007 Draft (S3)
1st (22nd) - CB Antonio Cromartie 1st (26th) - QB Sam Keller 3rd (90th) - WR Andre Caldwell 6th (186th) - OLB Steve Octavien 7th (218th) - G Paul Soliai - Cromartie was one of the best slot corners in the league, earning one Pro Bowl despite never starting. He is now atop the depth chart due to injuries - Keller sat behind Trent Dilfer (jerk) and Kerry Collins (love you man) before earning the starting job for good in S5. He made the first two Pro Bowls before an injury wiped out most of S7 (he still finished fourth in the AFC Pro Bowl voting at QB). He is off to a good start this season. - Caldwell was a good slot WR in his three years as a Dolphin. He was not retained after the Texans offered him a contract during RFA. - Backup OLBs never do anything in Miami. Octavien barely played in his lone season in Miami. He later was converted into a DE, signed with the Jets, and had a double digit sack season with them last year. - Soliai didn't get much playing time as a backup G, but his rating went up enough to where the Bears ended up signing him in free agency between the Yoshi and cheyene years. He's still a backup there --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

2008 Draft (S4)
1st (15th) - TE Zach Miller 2nd (51st) - OT Geoff Schwartz 2nd (64th) - HB Mike Hart 4th (128th) - G Shannon Tevaga 7th (211th) - K Sergio Aguayo - Unlike real life, TEs in B8NFLL do not have WR production. That being said, Miller has never been a nominee for TE of the Year, and I handpick those candidates. Still, he has good blocking skills, has started every game since Week 1 of his rookie year, and he's reached max rating, so I don't have much to complain about. - Schwartz was basically Colledge except slightly better production. He is currently a free agent. - Even as a backup HB, Hart was a bust. He wasn't very efficient. He was not retained after four seasons and is currently a free agent. - Tevaga barely produced or played in his three seasons as a Dolphin. He is arguably the most shocking RFA signing as the Broncos saw something in him. The Dolphins took the draft pick, and the Broncos eventually signed or drafted a bunch more Gs to bury Tevaga on the depth chart. - Aguayo used to be money and was once named Kicker of the Year (either Madden or both Madden/Users). He was a Bottom 5 kicker last year in terms of FG% and is in the middle of the pack this season. He's struggled with XPAs for whatever reason, having missed at least one in each season (not yet the case this season). --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... 2009 Draft (S5)
1st (31st) - WR Kenny O'Neal 2nd (42nd) - G Seth Olson 2nd (63rd) - HB Mikell Simpson 3rd (95th) - DT Matt Kroul 4th (102nd) - DE Barry Turner 7th (223rd) - TE Chris Brown - I didn't want O'Neal. I wanted DTs William Morrisey (Vikings at 24th), DT Marlon Favorite (Steelers at 28th), DT Charles Alexander (Jets at 29th), and G Garrett Collins (Bucs at 30th). With this being the first year of the live draft I think, I couldn't find a suitable trade partner, so I kept the pick and took the WR. He's been the best slot WR that I've ever had, so I guess it could have been much worse. - I have made every Bucs pick in every draft. Thus I was the one to rob myself of Collins. It all worked out as I made Olson the 2nd G selected in the draft. Due to my RG Simmons losing a few games every season, Olson got plenty of playing time. He eventually made his way to 91 just as he hit RFA. The Pumpkins offered him a huge deal that I simply couldn't match. The picks I received were eventually traded around into selections that I think became DT Suh and Gs Osmele and Bell in just this past draft. - Simpson is someone that I hope that I can retain for many years but probably won't since he's an 83 and might be looking for a starting job that he will likely never have. He's a do-it-all back though. He made me forget about how useless Hart ended up being. - Because I missed out on three DTs that I wanted in the first round, I waited until the 3rd to get a DT. Kroul, like Olson, earned significant playing time due to injuries. He made 8 starts last season, produced numbers that would look fantastic for a 16 game starter. Unfortunately, RFA struck again. He was my top-rated DT, and I really, really did not want to lose him, but the Seahawks offered him a deal in excess of $7 mil per season. I also would receive the third overall pick and a 3rd rounder if I let him go. It sucked, but he's now a Seahawk. Those picks turned into CB Joe Haden and HB Ryan Matthews. - I was afraid that Turner would become the third player I would lose to RFA this past offseason. Luckily, nobody offered him anything, so I got to keep my dependable backup DE. He has recorded at least 1 sack and 1 FF/FR in each season. - Backup TEs mainly just block and backup at FB if a team doesn't have 2 of them. I don't recall how good of a blocker Brown is, but I don't care since I have zero expectations for backup TEs. He's also now buried on my depth chart. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

2010 Draft (S6)
1st (24th) - DE Calais Campbell 1st (26th) - OLB DeAndre Levy 5th (154th) - WR Darrius Heyward-Bey 6th (184th) - DT Joe Upshaw 6th (186th) - G Jamaal Reed 7th (218th) - TE Jonathan Hannah - Campbell is an all-around beast. He's had back-to-back 8 sack campaigns, has above-average FF/FR figures, is an excellent run-defender, and he is only one of maybe three people from the first round to make the Pro Bowl. - In retrospect, I don't really remember why I made the trade with Sultan to acquire an additional first rounder. If I had to guess, it was the shed my draft pick capital since I routinely run into roster space issues. The pick to select Levy was actually my own original pick, and looking back, I'm glad that I did make the trade because I would have likely have taken DE Doug Worthington here (he was selected 25th overall, so maybe Campbell would have been selected by the Falcons instead). If Levy amounts to nothing since backup OLBs do just that in my system, I will be okay since Campbell turned out to be fantastic so far. - I drafted Heyward-Bay to be my returner. He sucked. I didn't retain him, and he's out of the league. - I'm pretty sure that I only took Upshaw since he was the best player available. He's increased his rating by like 10. I might have prematurely signed him to a 6 year deal since I had no idea that I would wind up drafting Suh, but I'm sure that things will work out since he's been great. - Reed did nothing. I believe that he survived the purge and is one of the lowest-rated Gs available on the free agent market. - Hannah is a backup TE. I have no opinion or anything interesting to share. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah I remember when you took Campbell as I was torn between taking Campbell or Laurinaitis with my first pick. I seem to remember Laurinaitis was a reach and Campbell had fallen down the draft.
I only went with Laurinaitis because the next MLB was waaaaay down the draft and I needed a starter. And there was a few DE's still there (I took DE Beardless 2nd round). Guess it worked out for both of us in the end ... Copied to Clipboard!

2011 Draft (S7)
1st (29th) - SS Antoine Bethea 2nd (61st) - MLB Brian Cushing 3rd (93rd) - WR Miles Austin 4th (110th) - DE Kroy Biermann 4th (120th) - FS Rob Jackson 4th (121st) - G Andy Levitre 4th (125th) - TE Owen Daniels 6th (169th) - OLB P.J. Hines - I was going to take Eric Berry or Bethea. Berry was taken three picks before me, making my decision easy. He became a starter this season, and I think that he's one of the nine people tied for second place with 2 FRs. - I have long sounded like a broken record, but he produced backup MLB numbers. It is unusual for me to have more than one rookie starter in any draft class, and this particular draft produced 0. This might be my current starting MLB's last season, so I might have something interesting to say about him at the conclusion of next season. - I didn't want to spend a 3rd rounder on someone who may never become even a slot receiver for me. Had I known that Sultan would not sign either of the two draft picks I made for him (49ers CB Peter Whitworth and Jets OLB Jeff Hicks) that Austin was sandwiched between, I probably would have taken one of them instead. - I have never had a DE lose a game to injury during B8NFLL. I still like having depth, and Biermann has done well for a backup. No complaints in his 23 games as a Dolphin (I guess technically 31 but I don't look at preseason stuff). - After FS Corey Campbell wouldn't re-sign with me since he wanted a starting gig, I needed a new backup FS. Berry was unavailable in the 1st, and I ended up screwing myself over by drafting FSs for other teams in future rounds, it was now that I had a backup FS near the top of the top prospects. However, backup FSs don't do much on the stat sheet. I do hope I can get another season or two out of Ed Reed. - With the pick I gained from the Browns in the Nick Mangold trade, I selected a G that I convered into a C. My starting C McClure hasn't missed a game since Levitre was drafted, so there's nothing to say about him. - I had too many draft picks and no idea what to do with them. Had one-time real-life Dolphin Charles Clay been available at any of my picks in this round, I probably would have taken him. I still grabbed Owen Daniels who ended up being the highest-rated rookie TE. Of course, that's wasted being a backup to someone who never misses a game. Why do I have four TEs? - Hines is a backup OLB, and not even the top backup at either spot. He still got some snaps and did stuff with them. It was enough for me to bring him back on another 1 year deal. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

2012 Draft (S8)
1st (3rd) - CB Joe Haden 1st (10th) - DT Ndamukong Suh 1st (19th) - CB Kareem Jackson 2nd (33rd) - G Kelechie Osmele 3rd (67th) - HB Ryan Matthews 4th (97th) - G Damien Bell 4th (112th) - SS Isa Abdul-Quddus Obviously there is nothing to say about any of their production, but that doesn't mean that there isn't anything to say at all! - I wasn't sure what prof was going to do at #1 prior to receiving a PM the day of or before the draft. I already knew that I was going to take for Kora either MLB Wagner or WR Brown, but if prof took Haden, then things would get complicated for me. Having already filled my depth with youth the previous drafts, I had a rigid draft strategy targeting specific positions. I would have likely taken Suh at #3 had Haden been unavailable to me. - Had Suh gone before in the Haden #1 scenario, I likely would have taken FS Reshad Jones, who went just one pick later to the Raiders - I was torn about who the choose at #19, and I remember specially mentioning in the chat it was between CB Jackson and OT Anthony Costanzo. I already had an 85 backup OT. I went with Jackson for position premium and with the intention to make him my slot CB before Jake Tyree must have had a monster preseason and carried it into the regular season. Thanks mudders for not signing your former 4th round pick! - I was choosing between G Osmele and Ronald Leary for the 2nd rounder, and I went with Osmele less because of my vision for Gs (which he was the more ideal choice) and more for his name. - Knowing that I picked high-priced options in 2 CBs and 1 DT in the first, I knew that my dream of reuniting free agent HB Jamal Lewis back to the team he played the first three B8NFLL seasons for was likely dead. I had a hole at HB and decided that now was a good time to grab Matthews. - I had two holes at G and was eyeing Bell and Jonathan Fletcher to fill the last one. I ended up drafting Fletcher for the Cowboys one pick before Bell, and took Bell for myself. Wiz then elected not to sign Fletcher, and I signed him and converted him to OT (hopefully just for this season) - I had already acquired a backup SS in a trade with the Wildcats, but then I saw that former real-life Dolphin Isa Abdul-Quddus was available. I ended up giving up the remaining picks I owned to the Bills to grab him. I wonder if I subconsciously wanted him to not have to spell out his name in stat PMs. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... Yeah, that's the problem you have to get them playing time and still perform well. I'd imagine there's some that would still develop anyway but at some point they'd hit a rating wall.
They still develop if they are rotation players from the sounds of things, just probably slower. And some positions have more rotation than others I guess. It sounds KCF's developed youngsters are a mix of people who filled in when injuries occurred and then others who just rotated in occasionally It's also kinda funny that Corey Campbell left KCF because he wanted a starter job. Then signed with me where on rating alone he was the back-up (83 compared to an established 87). And when I signed him, I actually intended him to be the back-up. He just won out in pre-season and I never realized until mid-season ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah starting a rookie seems to be essentially a coin toss. If they have a great season, they get that boost PLUS their natural rating boost. If they suck, see Jamarcus Russell, they'll just decline and probably never develop. I started Matt Ryan and Eric Berry as rookies last year and both had great seasons leading to 4 and 6 point boosts respectively, but it could have just as easily permanently stunted their growth if they had performed poorly. I would think though, that the higher rated a rookie is, the better chance he has to succeed.
Which is why Russell Wilson is so shocking atm. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Copied to Clipboard!

I thought I'd win that game but still nice to get that 2 game cushion over the rest of the AFC North. Especially as I have Pumpkins > Patriots > Bye coming up so that could quickly disappear.
Also I'm looking for a potential trade partner. What I am willing to give up (Some combination of) WR Demiko Goodman (82) - 26 yo CB Ricky Manning (81) - 31 yo (Having a solid year so far. Couple of FF, FR, I think an INT plus a Def TD) DE Ryan Nece (85) - 33 yo (Has an incredibly friendly contract for his rating. 1.86m for the year) HB Mike Bush (84) - 27 yo Possibly draft picks What I want (Any of these) A high rated WR who is under 30 (Demiko Goodman is 26yo and 82, want at least a few higher than that and preferably him going other way) An 85+ Guard under 30 (willing to trade one of my old guards in the deal who would be a true 1 year rental, they probably retire in the off-season) An 85+ center who is under 30 I'd be willing to consider early 30's for C or G if higher rated Also willing to consider other offers for any of the above players ... Also I am genuinely amazed at how much my secondary has stepped up this year.
They are virtually the same guys I've always had who were anonymous for the last 2 years. In 5 games this year they have almost matched their production for the last 2 seasons combined (tackles aside). I mean I made slight tactical changes this year but I doubt it's all down to that. ...
