..having 2 fathers or 2 mothers? So no parents at all and no where to call home is still preferable to having gay parents?

I've never understood that kind of reasoning.

It's pretty common knowledge that Republicans are generally against those things. It's not a hot topic right now though because it's mostly a settled issue.

Also, FYI I am not a Republican.

Just depends on where you put 'bad' at on the scale.

Sure, a kid can be raised by homosexual parents. A kid can also be raised by single parent, abusive parents, uncaring parents, wolves, in an orphanage, or any number of things.

If you consider that the best case scenario for a kid is to be raised traditionally by an involved mother and father figure, and consider that that will result in the kid growing up into the best and most well-balanced way possible, then the rest of the options are just a matter of deciding which is better or worse than the others.

All of the above options are worse than having a traditional mother and father. So which is worse, orphanage or same-sex parents? I can't really say for sure, but neither of them is ideal.

You didn't do anything except post a baseless refutation.

If anything, a lot of Republicans are 'neutral' on gay mariage and gay adoption now.

A few years ago, when the chips were on the table to decide the issue, the congress Republicans were definitely on the 'against' side. Most of them are just choosing to avoid the issue now.

The premise of the topic is about Republican positions though, right? Not Obama's position? You're trying to 'mitigate' the Republican position by saying that Obama did it too, but you're refusing to acknowledge the subject question.

@Caution999

The real question here is, if you're a Republican, why are you trying to deny this?

Why can't you just admit that gay marriage is wrong and that you agree with the congressman that it's wrong?

You're trying to deny the viewpoint. Are you ashamed to admit it's wrong because of social pressure? So instead of just stand up for what you believe in, you try to deny that you or your party have that viewpoint?

Or do you actually support gay marriage, and want to believe that Republican congressman support it too?

If you don't like gay marriage, just say you don't like gay marriage. If you do like it, and republicans don't, then just say you disagree with republicans on that point. What's the problem? Why are you tip-toeing on the issue?

Actually yes, I voted for Romney and McCain. Romney because being from Mass, he actually did a great job here. RomneyCare works pretty great as a healthcare system. Obamacare used mass as a model, but his error was trying to push it as a nationwide thing rather than having each state run their own version tailored to their individual needs. McCain was a celebrated war hero, who my main cause of contention for was his boneheaded pick of a VP. I'm convinced Palin lost us that election.
