Im fine doing what i do. I can earn up to 360 hours of paid time off a year, earning 5 hours a week and I get time and a half every week. I make more than my supervisor and he works 9 more hours a week than I do. Lol

Imagine thinking that middle management is something special.

Most of the time the hourly people right below middle management will make more money working 50 hours then the person in middle management will because they are salaried.

Granted, there are certain freedoms that come with a middle management job, but it's a sad day if you feel you are special for getting there.

Perhaps you have self esteem issues and are trying to get validation, I know I wouldn't brag about middle management.

So I've worked my way up to a director position within my organization, making a decent salary and like my job etc. I have more empathy for the part time workers because I've been in that position.

I will say that this is unfortunately somewhat true. It definitely helps to be proficient and hardworking, but being perceived as such is actually more important. Networking is the actual most important thing though. I wouldn't have the job I currently have if I didn't make connections with other staff and board members etc. My current boss actually used to work for me like 5 years back when I first started up the ladder.

At my job we've been down in management for months. We've been asking and searching for employees to sign up and start the promotion process so we could fill the positions but they all refuse to do it, or just drag their feet and show no enthusiasm for the job so they get passed over. Just recently, someone who has only been there for a month applied for the management position and he got the job. As soon as the other workers found out he did they started harassing him cause he's only been there for a month and now it's his job to tell them how to do their jobs (ironically enough, his new position makes him in charge of training all of our new hires). So people that have been near-minimum wage employees for nearly a decade keep on tossing shade at a guy when both groups of people are in the same exact position that they want to be in. It's pretty funny.
