Izuna and Izuna 2 removed all your weapons, armour, items, and money if you got wiped out in a dungeon.

Yggdra Union reset a character's stats if they lose all their Morale in battle (can happen quite easily if you don't know what you're doing).

I have Xcom: Enemy Unknown on xbox and pc (both free) and this is why I don't play those.

I hear if you don't know what you're doing you can screw up hours worth of work.

I remember back in the days in Final Fantasy 11. You had recently leveled up, gotten new gear and stuff.

Then looked for party for about 5 hours to finally find one. Take an hour or so to gather up. Then group sucks and you die in the first pull, de level, can't use the gear you have on.

Group kicks you, gotta go back to town and start over.

And this was just in the early levels.

Diablo 2 was pretty rough at near max levels. One bad session could cost you countless hours of work.

And then there was hardcore mode. One bad lag spike could kill a character you spent literal years working on.
