Today, I picked up a phone from a "wireless caller" and answered it. The voice on the other end seemed to be a genuine human female voice calling about health insurance.
But then she asked about whether I have health insurance. I said "I was covered". She replied "I didn't get the question" and asked whether I had health insurance again. I said it more clearly that "I'm already covered." But then she repeated what she said earlier exactly as she said it before. It was then I realized I was dealing with a "robo" caller and not a human. tl;dr: I guess I'm proud of the fact I was able to tell that a telemarketer was a recording rather than a live human. The robo-caller failed my "Turing Test" for self-awareness. --- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U mains: http://i.imgur.com/vLFcGb2.png Nintendo Network Name: JohnJohn ... Copied to Clipboard!

It just wanted a "yes" I'm guessing.
I've completely stopped answering calls from numbers I don't recognize. With a few situational exceptions. --- PSN: obsurdrandom ... Copied to Clipboard!

I got a call from a robot female that 'accidentally' dropped her headpiece (or whatever callers use. All I know is she dropped something, then said 'whoops, give me a sec...' ). Because of that, I thought she was a real person, but it became clear it was a robot when she didn't respond to anything I said. That little ploy was clever, but also incredibly deceitful. Shame on whoever thought that was a good idea.

I've completely stopped answering calls from numbers I don't recognize. I started with this years ago because of Virginia Blood Services and job recruiters calling me all the time. I use my voice mail to screen calls. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Whenever I answer the phone, hear a beep, I hang up immediately. Pretty sure it's a beep to record the call, and I'm not down with that, especially since they don't tell you upfront.

Imagine actually staying on the phone with tellemaketers long enough to find out they are machines.
