Republican Congressman Randy Weber broke down in a puddle of man-tears on Wednesday night as he begged God to forgive America for allowing gay couples to get married.

Texas Rep. Weber was speaking at the annual “Washington – A Man of Prayer” event in Washington, D.C., hosted by anti-gay pastor Jim Garlow which was also attended by Paul Ryan, Senator Steve Daines and Rep. Tim Walberg.

It's more that he really believes that it's a sin and that America is going against God's word. (I don't agree with that, I'm just explaining why he'd break down in tears over it.)

It has nothing really to do with gay couples as much as it has to do with the fear/sadness of thinking that your nation is opposing a deity.

Pretty much.

The fact that morons like him are still trying to fight something so inexorable is just sad.

Whether he likes it or not, more than half of Americans support marriage equality. And it's only going to get better with the new generations.

How about Mr. Christian man starts crying about all the poverty, homelessness, and starvation that's going on here in America and abroad or maybe all the war and other horrific acts going on in the world instead of whining about two people who love each other getting married.

This guy's crocodile tears are just there to pander to religious nuts and other idiots to get votes for himself and his very un-christian political party.

lmao did you look at all of those grown men weeping? HAHAAHHAAHAHA

I's so funny, they always pound their chest about being "real men", they always call anyone more liberal than them "beta" or "cucks" or "snowflakes" yet here they are, weeping their eyes out because others can marry who they love LOL. I was actually waiting for them to whine about interracial marriage too lol.

it is also funny how they pretend to be so religious and care so much about being good religious people, yet they totally ignore or outright reject "turn the other cheek", "love thy neighbor" or "forgive others". It's all "shoot the minorities", "punish the women" and "p.s. close the border" for them, so very religious ....

To take a step back and be serious for a moment, this. With the flagrant poverty, death, and destruction both at home and abroad, you would think that maybe, just maybe, these things would take just a little more priority over two guys/gals being able to sign a contract providing legal rights and benefits in the eyes of the state.

But no. Clearly gay marriage is the greatest threat this nation faces.

This guy and others like him are sacks of pure, unadulterated shit.

I don't understand. A guy with a passionate but unproven belief literally weeps over something that doesn't affect him and you say "while I don't agree with him, I do understand why he'd be so upset." Meanwhile in the topic about how a lack of eye contact could be a racial microaggression (something else that the researchers are passionate about but cannot absoloutely prove), what's your response?

I was raised in a religion, though I don't go anymore or agree with it, where I was taught that homosexuality was a sin. And as Jesus taught with any, sinner, one is to hate the sin not the sinner. If people truly feel that this is a sin against God and ramifications are eternal damnation, well there's a possibility of genuine concern for the individuals even if they are misguided about homosexuality. Jesus always taught empathy even for sinners. This is why he himself was ostracized and ridiculed by the religious leaders of the time for his involvement with sinners, prostitutes, the poor, sick, maimed and any other catergory of people that the religious leaders at the time deemed unworthy of their attention.

The important take away is to try and understand people's standing and try and reason with them and hopefully guide their hand to the right course of action. Ridicule usually only cements reasons that people have and they close their minds to anything different. You don't change people's hearts with ridicule and anger. You change them with compassion and understanding. I may not practice religion but there are still great principles in the Bible even if many of the notions in it are antiquated at this point. Being aware enough to see these principles and apply them in your lives in dealing with people is why I was able to come to better understanding of sexuality, and in particular homosexuality. Because that is how someone treated me, and that handling of my previous thoughts on homosexuality is why I became aware that my previous ideas were faulty.

That particular poster simultaneously expressed that the confederates didn't secede over slavery and that they were right to defend slavery if they did. He frequently insists he's not a... certain way, yet he's always veering toward if not explicitly saying things awful similar to someone who is... a certain way.
