Hungry in the middle of the day but too lazy to go get food?

No problem, most areas now have delivery service for tons of local resteraunts.

Mine recently added Red Robin with their extremely snarfy steak fries.

It's 5$ for delivery and $3 for tip, and 11$ for the burger, so 20$ total, and I have a snarfy burger with a ton of delicious steak fries (extra crispy) delivered to my door within 30-40 minutes.

Factoring in gas, and the fact you need to tip if you eat there anyway, I'm really only spending another 4-5$ total to get the food brought to my house.

That being said, it could easily get to be addictive and add drastically to food costs over time. It's just so easy to order in, and you don't eat out that often (so don't pay the tips). An extra $8 a meal can add up quickly, and while I have not ordered twice in one day yet (or even twice in a week lately), It would be so easy to get into that habbit.

If they start delivery for old school pizza....I'll be in serious trouble.

More and more places are doing this as well, even Amazon is getting in on it in many areas (not mine yet)

I can see this being really bad for peoples diets as well, not to mention not even needing to leave your house to eat now.........last thing this country needed was to make it easier to eat large quantaties of food without needing to move!!!

Whatever happens is entirely the fault of the person doing the ordering, not the company.

I thought this topic would be about safety concerns, not lazy slobs getting lazier.

I thought you were going to say something like the people delivering food were sticking their dick/vag into the food or spiking it with laxatives or something.

Lol...maybe if you do tip them enough times they will!!

Seriously though, I know it's the fault of the people buying, but temptation is temptation, and if you have the ability to order food now whenever you see those annoying food comercials on tv (for those fools still forced to watch them), it's going to be bad.

Still think food comercials should be illegal after 11pm or so.

Anyway I do agree that it makes sense, and more to the point it's crazy nobody opened up their own companies doing this before, as they could have made a killing.

You wouldn't even need to deliver yourself, just set it all up from home, hire some guys to do the delivery (min wage as they will get tips), and charge 5$ a delivery (like the places do now) and you would be raking in the cash with almost no work needed.

You could take the orders and send out the drivers from home, and even just getting 20 orders per hour would net you $80/hr easily.

Some start up money would be needed to pay drivers initially when getting started, but you'd only need to pay 1 driver until you had enough orders to support 2, and $11 (min wage here)/hr would only mean you need 2 orders per hour to break even (So almost no startup costs at all).

Go out yourself and put up fliers a week or two before hand, talk to resteraunts in your area and have them have fliers with the start date of your service etc, and bam, you'd probably have plenty of customers even on your first week.

Oh well, that ship has sailed cause now it's available all over the place already.

True, but you do have to pay for gas each way AND you can factor in your time spent as well (which varies from person to person in worth).

Honestly unless they are within a few blocks though, $5 for delivery is worth it for almost anyone.

Lol yeah, it's pretty cool.

Trying to resist the urge to use it all the time, but it's hard. Need to force myself to actually go out though.

I have endless video games, tv shows, books etc at home......I don't even REALLY need to go to the movies (just do it for social reasons...with the nerd herd etc).

At least going out to eat WAS another reason to head out, but now? Can just get the food brought to me.

I could just retire and live the rest of my life in my house I guess.

I couldn't agree more. I have to be careful how often I use OrderUp since the cost adds up so quickly. But it's nice to have Mexican food or sushi delivered to my house without going anywhere

Also, shut the the fuck up Erik.

Oh, I have a ton of food, I just get the urge for steak fries every so often hehehe. I can make some VERY good roasted potatoes, but it takes awhile.

Honestly I really shouldn't ever eat out, but Its nice to not need to cook your own food every so often.

I looked into one of them several months back. Restaurant Runner. But it was stupidly expensive. It was going to cost me an extra $30 to get the meal delivered. It was a $12 delivery fee and an $18 driver fee.

That is insane.

Someone should just create a competing company that does it for $5 like all the rest. It'll get a stranglehold on your area that would be hard to beat later on.

All local delivery is $5, then anything more then 5 miles or so starts to go up slowly. Sessions Teriyaki is DELICIOUS but 30 minute drive each way...and costs $8 for delivery from them lol.

That is the way to do it. The driver gets paid min wage + tips, and you make bank (each driver probably delivers 10+ meals an hour, so after you take out the 10$ for paying the, you get about 40$ an hour profit per driver).
