I love Dark Souls. But every time I try to play Bloodborne I get tired of it after about an hour. What's the deal?

It's not that either, the setting is lovely and the boss designs I've seen are terrific.

Bloodborne is my favorite of the Souls-type games. Really got into the lore and stuff. One of my all-time favorite games now.

It should feel different from the Dark Souls series. That's kind of the point.

I really enjoyed it but never finished it.

I didn't really get into it for a while but everything starts to kinda add up into an amazing world, and easily most refined combat in the series

main problem with the game was the obscurity of... a lot. pretty much everything that's optional is hidden so far out of the way.

That's absurd. You shouldn't have to play most of a game to decide that you don't like it. Playing longer can give you more insight to the finer points of why you don't like it, but why bother?

The only time I would suggest playing longer is if you enjoy a game for its technical merits like depth or control, but maybe aren't really into the story or more esoteric elements. That will give the game more of a chance to unfold, but if you aren't having fun with the core game getting more story is unlikely to change that.

I can understand wanting to like a game if it's from a developer you like, but there's no rule that says you have to enjoy everything someone does.

I like From. I wish I could like the Souls series because I like the way they look and some of the features, but ultimately I don't and no further play is going to change that.

This. Personally I've never played it but I also haven't played any souls games either. They are simply not my thing and that's a shame as I like gothic style games.

Like I look at games for two different things:
1. Intense twitchy gameplay with precise actions and in depth strategy (except for fighting games for whatever reason).
2. Interesting stories, worlds, and characters full of depth and nuance and intricately crafted. Graphics non-withstanding.

I will happily play either game and that's the style I watch out for.

There is a story, you just need to find it by doing the following: take time to explore, play the game a few times, read item descriptions, and if you still can not grasp the story, talk to others on forums. Just because the story is not spoon fed to the player does not mean that it is non existent.

I'll second what Red Frog said and boil it down to this:

If you're not having fun, there's no need to continue playing.

I'd say it doesn't matter how much time you put into it, but with Bloodborne it can take a while for the game to get its hooks into you. I was into the game from the get-go, but by the time I killed Amelia I was hooked on the gameplay, and by the time I killed Rom I was hooked on the story. But I was having fun before those things happened. If you're not enjoying it, move on.

I've played every Saints Row game. Never more than a few hours each. I love the GTA series, but can't seem to get into Saints Row. I won't say they're bad games. Quite the opposite. I can see they're well-made, and that there are elements that would be fun to a lot of people. I'm just not one of those people, I guess.

apparently you're supposed to do all the sidequests because that's where the story is

but it doesn't matter how good the story is when every sidequest is to go fetch something.

the whole game is a fetch quest, and the story isn't even interesting.
