They're accused of torching the sign in Princess Anne as it's reported that D'Asia was spotted on camera and Joy turned herself in afteer. They initially planned on taking down the sign but when they couldn't, she out of the car and tried torching it instead Joy said she tried to rip it down but it was screwed in and was tough to pull down and returned to the car and grabbed a lighter to try to set it on fire. They are charged with second-degree arson and committing a hate crime. Princess Anne police said "The intentional burning of these political signs, along with the beliefs, religious views, and race of this political affiliation directly coincides with the victim" The outragous claim was backed by the chief fire marshall said the arson was racially motivated as it was a "discrimination or malice toward a particular group or someone's belief" They were both released on 20,000 bond as the sign was near a shopping centre and fire spread to a nearby field causing 800 in damage. Jamie Wink who's father owned the store where the sign was located said his dad put it up because "it's been a pretty good attention-getter" and that his family supported Trump but didn't take it down after the November vote. Crybaby Jamie said the store sells guns and hunting gear and said what these girls did was RACIST towards WHITE PEOPLE and wants them to get the FULL SENTENCE!! Yes, I believe this qualifies as a hate crime as described by the police department. I personally believe that the sentencing is a reasonable sentencing for the combination of arson and hate crime.

The closest this comes to being a hate crime is if you equate a Trump sign to a wooden cross on someone's lawn. It was a shit-head move, the fire damaged a bunch of other property and that's fucked up - they should be charged for arson and vandalism. But following Trump is not a lifestyle or a way of life that you should align yourself with to the point of long-lasting religious or cultural symbols. Trump worship started recently - people liked him, he was fun to laugh at or generally an alright guy to people, but this fervor about him started less than two years ago. He can't be a cultural icon on the same level as religious or cultural iconography, and I can't honestly believe that people feel like a piece of their cultural identity is under attack after less than two years of Trump having a "culture" around him. Burning a cross on someone's lawn? That's a hate crime. Re-arranging someone's menorah decoration to look like a swastika? That's a hate crime. Kicking in someone's head while you call them racial slurs and tell them to get out of your country? That's a hate crime. This was a shitty act of vandalism that went too far, because some people disagreed with a political message. The vandals should be charged for the damage and learn a lesson about letting some things lie - picking their battles so they don't burn a fucking building down, for example - but it's fucking laughable that people see this as an attack on white culture and are calling for 33 years in jail over it. Trump has a cult of personality about him, but he's not a culturally ingrained symbol to the degree of the holy cross, menorah or American flag and defacing his shit isn't a hate crime.
